The final section tries to quell the fear of general women. Any "normal women" can use tampons. Such language underscores that for centuries, internal protection was seen as lewd or even connected to sex work. Other debates at this time related to one's virginity and use of tampons.

Another Monday another #MenstruationMonday post (I am committing). Today I have a picture of a tin and a bottle of Lydia Pinkham's tablet, which was a catchall medicine for any sort of women's issues. It was a home remedy, as Pinkham sold the concoction to local women before financial need drove

Before (and sometimes after) disposable pads and elastic belts came along, women used belts that fit around their waist and connected to reusable cloth pads that were secured (like this one) with safety pins

When we see mass marketed period products come along, we see the complaints that women had about these belts, which included the discomfort and chafing that came along with them. Elastic belts were advertised to have no safety pins and no chafing!
