For innate T cell enthusiasts, happy to share our preprint: www.biorxiv.org/content/10.6.... We show that mycobacterial lipid–reactive CD1b-specific T cells transcriptionally resemble conventional CD4 T cells more than other innate-like T cells, challenging how we classify these T cells. #CD1b #GEM

#4 PITT BEATS #3 KENTUCKY, 25-14, 21-25, 25-13, 25-21 The Panthers' front-row defense absolutely went to *work* today. 14 blocks. 33 Kentucky attack errors overall. Starck feeding to Babcock? Already dynamite. 27 kills for Liv on .339 hitting. Outstanding start to the 2026 season.

A really good (and readable) review of the 1977 H1N1 flu pandemic is just out. It's a startling story, which I've always been surprised doesn't get more attention TL;DR: '77 was almost certainly a pandemic caused by a lab leak, and it turns out that when this happens *it is pretty obvious*

For U.S. medical researchers, shrinking labs and bare budgets are the new reality
The Trump administration has slashed the number of grants from the National Institutes of Health, with far fewer focused on women, cancer and mental health.

True HIV cures are wonderful but also are exceedingly rare. A reminder that a FUNCTIONAL cure exists for everyone else, in the form of ART. We need to invest in identifying every person living with HIV and making ART drugs available to them- cheaply and efficiently.
