Everyone is biking -- old people, young people, men, women, exercise types, stylishly dressed types. And I saw maybe one or two helmets the whole day. It's so routine & normalized. It's not just bikes, either -- tons of people walking. There are just *people*, everywhere! So many people.

Started an application to foster GSDs through an Iowa rescue organization. Filled out the form, was in ongoing correspondence with a volunteer, with a 'home inspection' scheduled for tomorrow. But the volunteer pushed me too much about providing contact information for 3(!) references "ASAP", TODAY.

My visiting German Mom finally understood that John Deere is a Scheißladen. We only have what the farmers here would call a "toy tractor" that we primarily use for mowing, but there is no servicing available for it. Brand loyalty in Iowa remains strong despite JD having long gone over to pure sales.

It had just rained, leaving a huge puddle in the ditch at the house. I looked out the window just to see an anaconda-sized snake slipping out of it!
