I can't stop thinking about this utterly delicious anecdote in last week's Guardian Q&A with Mark Williams...
Are you utterly tired of hearing your catchphrases being quoted or yelled at you? CaptainLib:

"If you can't do the time, don't do the crime. I was once near the front end of the platform at Clapham Junction in London and a train pulled up. The driver was level with me and he looked at me once. The train waited for a while. Then, just before the whistle blew, the driver leant sideways and went: "You ain't seen me, right." Which I thought was majestic timing and I'd like to congratulate him." Mark Williams: "You ain't seen me, right?"

Happy #EuropeDay from orbit! 🇪🇺 On 9 May, Europe Day reminds us of something our astronauts witness every day from 400 km above: a continent of remarkable diversity, bound together by shared skies 🧪🌍
This mosaic of cloud-free images from the Copernicus Sentinel-3A satellite spans the entire continent of Europe, and more. The view stretches from Iceland in the northwest across to Scandinavia and Russia in the northeast, and from the northern tips of Norway and Finland to as far south as Algeria, Libya and Egypt.

While the satellite’s ocean and land colour instrument depicts the green of summer in many parts of Europe, the dryness that summer brings, particularly to the south, can also be seen with yellows and browns in parts of Spain, Italy and Turkey, for example.

I think the clocks in UK go back tonight. Or forward. Not sure. Is it forward
1 [Nurse talking to camera]
This is usually our busiest time of year at the centre

2 [Show a sign outside a medical institution reading:]

Centre for Adults Who Still Can’t Get Their Heads Round Daylight Savings

3
NURSE:
We have a spike in admissions when BST starts

4
CONFUSED PATIENT BEING LAID DOWN BY NURSES:
Is it forward or back?

NURSE:
Lie down love

5
We often see the same patients ever year

PATIENT:
So it’s like… time travel?

DOCTOR:
No

6 Every year we try to explain BST to them in a fun and memorable way

[The patients are sat around a fun show, with people dressed in bunny suits jumping around a giant clock]

BUNNY: And now I *spring forward*...

7
[Bunny springs forward one hour on clock]

8
PATIENT WATCHING SHOW:
I don’t get it

9
The hardest patients are the Summer Time refusers

10 PATIENT [sat strapped to a chair as a doctor talks to him through a screen, through a tannoy]

PATIENT: But why is it better?

DOCTOR [talking through microphone]:

Because it complicates things.

11
PATIENT:
How is that good?

DOCTOR:
It makes you more tired.

12

DOCTOR [to assistant]:
Fetch the cattle prod

[Ends]

This was really yummy and simple. Instead of pork I used lamb, and in place of the onions I used a few leeks. My kids don't like paprika so I used oven chips instead, and as I'm watching my weight I substituted the crème fraîche with low fat sausages.

Landmark British photographer Martin Parr dies aged 73
Parr said his brightly coloured, closely observed pictures of British life were ‘disguised as entertainment’ but they became hugely popular Martin Parr, the British documentary photographer who captured the peculiarities of the nation with clarity and hilarity, has died aged 73. He had been diagnosed with cancer in May 2021. Known for his acute observations of the English class system, Parr’s images covered sunbathers and Conservative clubs, village fetes and coffee mornings, often in vivid colour and with more than a dash of humour. His iconic 1986 photobook The Last Resort: Photographs of New Brighton captured working-class holidaymakers in the Wirral, Liverpool and helped mark a sea change in British documentary photography, from the gritty, black and white style of the past towards a cheekier and more colourful style.
