I see the uk government has decided to fully fund the teachers papyrus having previously suggested using savings in the Local Government Pension Scheme. Perhaps those savings could be applied to help school support staff, you know, the lowest paid people in the LGPS

Still exploring options for Faraday rotation demo.I have bought some 395nm LEDs, used heat shrink tubing on one to give a more defined beam & no stray UV. A webcam can now show a group of students the effect at the same time without them needing to peer at the UV. Best all round i think 🧪

Saw this little guy mating with an apparently identical moth apart from being twice the size. Is this sort of sexual dimorphism common in moths? Butterflies always seem the same size and pattern. 🧪🦋🪲🪳

Been having a play with different light sources and have managed to show faraday rotation with a 1.5v mes bulb. Harvard use an mes bulb but they have a piece of optical dense flint glass whereas my glass is nowhere near as good. They use much higher voltage in solenoid too.🧪

I persuaded School to leave an area unmown I sowed a meadow mix. However the greatest success was plants that had always been there. Bee Orchids, English bluebell, rose garlic, bulbous buttercup, dwarf gorse, bell heather,and in the autumn ladies tresses orchids.

My Mum had 2/3 strokes plus TIAs she went from fully independent to wheelchair & dependent with Vascular dementia dying of Covid in care. Over £300000 in care & due to run out of money in 6 months when she died. She had sold two houses and had nothing left to fall back on.
