Friday morning, I was gardening when I checked my phone. A request had gone out for help. For 25+ hours, ICE had been laying siege to a quiet neighborhood in Frederick, MD. Community members were afraid, some didn’t want to leave their homes. ICE vehicles seemed to be lurking on every corner.

Today the Rainbow Bridge called home the sweetest girl. Yuki was the neighborhood darling, a celebrity to the school kids from around the block, and a great support for the whole family. Her sudden loss is devastating, but her memories will be cherished. Yuki was unapologetically joyful ❤️

I wanted to capture a raven as both a natural and symbolic presence within the Canadian landscape. Ravens are known to be particularly intelligent birds, even remembering the faces of people they deem friend or foe. The swirl on the forehead of the bird is meant to indicate a higher being, while the expressive brushwork brings focus to a seemingly everyday sighting.

Kids need/deserve traumatic films. Films that show death or lasting consequences that aren't resolved almost instantly. Fear, anger, grief and frustration should be part of kids movies. Kids arent stupid, they feel big emotions just like adults, they deserve to see those experiences reflected back.
