👇🎯 This is the inevitable endpoint of 50 years (no, actually, 160+ years) of total lack of elite accountability in 🇺🇸 politics: bsky.app/profile/mcop... Once it's accepted one can commit high crimes & still go on to lucrative media/academic/finance sinecures (or govt again), we had to end up here.

Steve Bannon, quoted by CBS News, on if Democrats take control of the House.

“I think you’ll see Bobby Kennedy impeached, I’ll think you see Pete Hegseth impeached. I think you’ll see subpoenas flying every day. They will look to destroy President Trump, and we’ll be bogged down for two years.”

Q: It's not just President Trump. We also heard from Elon Musk saying Zelenskyy has gone too far. Why are they blaming you for the continuation of this war? President Zelenskyy:Because these people can't find a key how to stop Putin. Because it's more difficult to stop Putin than to pressure others

In a story on political violence (where they depict the targets as equally democratic and republican), the @nytimes.com gives a sympathetic ear to a member of Congress who was part of January 6.
Representative Derrick Van Orden, a Republican from Wisconsin seeking re-election next month, attended the “Stop the Steal” rally on Jan. 6, 2021, in support of President Trump’s false claim that he had won the 2020 election. Mr. Van Orden was outside the U.S. Capitol that day when a mob attacked it, though he has denied entering the building. He was elected to Congress in 2022That’s when the threats began.

“I was a Navy SEAL for over 22 years,” Mr. Van Orden said in an interview with The Times. “I hunted terrorists around the world a lot and was very successful at that. Never had a single threat to my family. Ever.”

President Trump's betrayal of Ukraine and Europe is morally reprehensible. But it is also idiotic economics. Widely traded commodities are not obtained by national governments doing deals. The amounts Putin promised are far less than U.S. exports. This is incompetent, soulless merchantilism.
