Inspired by the story crafting of @thriftycrafts.bsky.social in the @dndpodcast.bsky.social D&D podcast I present Wompel Wine. A blend of foraged dandelion flowers, nettles, and a bit of elderflower, all fermented in a sweet nectar. Not bad so far at 2 months old, we’ll see how it is with age.

Blessed with a leucistic junco visitor today snacking on a purslane patch

A small bird, a dark eyed junco, feeding on the ground. The bird has unusual patches of white feathers which is typical of leucism. Leucism is a partial loss of pigment in fur, feathers, or skin.

Local horticultural club was running a plant sale and all of these were $3 each or less! Been on the lookout for Philadelphus lewisii (mock orange) and they had three and a cool native fern Woodwardia fimbriata I’d never seen before. Guess I’m that kind of old guy now.
