3/ final points: for women in the childbearing years too who might have several children this stretch can be years too!! Which is overwhelming. Not to mention our colleagues struggling with fertility issues who want to be pregnant/are trying to have children — it’s so hard for them to plan & be safe

2/ its already so stressful while you are away from newborns, pumping, and having to do extra service to make up for being on leave on top of catching up on research. I want to not go to show my support but I also need to balance it with my own career goals. It’s a no win situation.

1/These things just compound too to make the barriers for early career women/trainees so hard to attend. Did not attend IDWeek 2024 since I was too pregnant to fly, and now that I’m not pregnant for 2025 I would be missing out on 2 years in a row if I choose not to go. Not to mention…
