Ok, I’ve been watching Starfleet Academy, along with all the rabid criticism. I’ve got to ask — what the f**k are the critics TALKING about? Starfleet Academy is the purest version of Star Trek I’ve seen in years. Brilliant, beautiful and true to the show’s ideals. I approve, wholeheartedly.

I’m so sad to hear about the passing of my old friend Jean Rabe. My thoughts and love go out to her husband Bruce, and to her many friends and fans. One of the most creative people I have ever known. Also one of the most loved. She will be greatly missed.

Indiana’s Senate has voted AGAINST the GOP gerrymander that’d have locked in a 9-0 map. This keeps the 7-2 map in place, saving two Democratic seats heading into 2026. The vote failed big, 19/31. The MAJORITY of the GOP senators opposed it!

Whatever happened to those old Harvey characters? Little Dot, Little Lotta, Hot Stuff the devil? Only Richie Rich and Casper are still familiar names to kids. Yeah, they were often one-joke characters, but as a kid I used to read them alongside my Superman and Batman comics and enjoyed them.

System certainly matters, but don’t let the lack of perfection in a system get in the way of having a good time role playing anyway. My case in point is always the adventure “Film at Eleven” that Greg Poehlein and I did for Gary Gygax’s Cyborg Commandos RPG.
