«The best small models (Gemma 4 E2B and E4B) rendered most parts but rarely got their dimensions right.» Dimensions in some cases may not be a huge deal as long as we are dealing with a parametric model in the first place & everything else is correct. I see it still failed a lot, though.

As I was trying to replicate a part I already had (I just needed one more), what I did (as mentioned —but not explained— in a response to the OP) was take photographs from a couple of different angles & tell it to make something like it. After that, it was a matter of describing what it got wrong.

That's nothing, I've created a dirt cheap drop-in replacement for the Rockwell Retro Encabulator. Rockwell is going to hate me! Their patents are long expired so they can do nothing!

This was to put together a cat wheel from One Fast Cat. It's a model that the company that made it no longer sells or supports as it's 2 generations behind what they sell now (so they won't sell these clips on their website). I managed to lose one so I made my own to replace it.

I should have used Claude as it's supposed to be better at coding. The modeling was quite simple (a plastic spring clip —& I was more concerned with function than exact shape). I wondered if the process would work for more complex modelling. However, I never tried doing this sort of thing again.

Really? Toward the end of July, I tried OpenSCAD + free Gemini (I gave up on it —though it may have worked eventually with enough iteration and/or better prompting). Also, OpenSCAD + paid ChatGPT: this worked with enough iteration (first off by a lot, then it just kept getting better).

Australia explained for Americans Creator: unknown
This humorous map titled “Australia explained for Americans” reimagines the geography of Australia by overlaying the names of U.S. states onto its regions to create a playful, culturally relatable comparison for American audiences: Western Australia is labeled “Texas,” the Northern Territory is “Florida,” Queensland is “Alabama,” New South Wales is “California,” Victoria is “New York,” Tasmania is “Oregon,” South Australia is “Ohio, Idaho, and Iowa,” the Australian Capital Territory is “New Mexico,” and a small coastal region near Sydney is humorously dubbed “New Jersey,” while a sliver of land on the eastern coast is labeled “Louisiana”; each state name is color-coded and positioned roughly according to the relative size and shape of the corresponding Australian region, using bold, simple text and bright, distinct colors to emphasize the satirical analogy between the vast, sparsely populated landscapes of Australia and familiar U.S. states, with no data sources or scale provided, clearly intended as lighthearted cultural commentary rather than a factual geographic representation.

First there was "the negro problem." Now racists are trying to coin a new version: "the Indian question." one of endless examples of why solidarity among Black people and other people of color, along with any socially vulnerable group, would benefit everyone.

Though if you want something contemporaneous with Battlestar Galactica that I would have watched in the US, I suppose I liked 6 Million Dollar Man, Bionic Woman & Wonder Woman. I think I enjoyed The Secrets of Isis as well (though I did not remember that was its title until I looked it up just now).

I recognized it as Battlestar Galactica (though I double checked with Google Image Search). Then I realized there were some things that didn't fit & I realized I was smushing it together with Buck Rogers (which is unrelated). For whatever reason, I didn't get into them. My fave was _The Prisoner_.

No. 2021 is not 2026. Even without including IPO money, there have been billions of funding added after 2021 in various funding rounds because Musk knows how to con people into throwing money at him (the one thing that he is genuinely very good at —forget Elizabeth Holmes!).

If it works, Starship starts feeding the business that already works... works so well that Musk thought it would go bankrupt without the Starship launch platform.

- It is not in dispute that Starlink makes money. The question is whether it made enough money to sustain the company in the long term. - If it's no biggie, why was Musk panic mongering about bankruptcy a the end of 2021? - V2.5 was a workaround in response to not having Starship in 2022.

Regarding the current commentary on BlueSky on the desirability of anthropomorphizing LLMs since they think like humans, I think that's one tick in favor on the 'thinks like humans' column. I mean, plagiarizing counts, right?

August Pamplona @cosmicaug.bsky.social · 28/09/2026
If it already worked, Musk wouldn't have sent a memo toward the end of 2021 claiming a "genuine risk of bankruptcy" if they didn't get Starship to work. Yes, they had an intermediate version between the Starlink V2 satellites & V3 satellites that was Falcon deployable but that was a workaround.
