It’s uncomfortable to acknowledge the ways in which you benefit from unfair systems. It’s uncomfortable to be told you’re just now realising that the thing you’re mortified about has been common practice for a long time. It’s uncomfortable to learn that you could be the victim of some injustices and a perpetuate others.

So you could do the comfortable thing. You could surround yourself with people who share your incorrect, unjust view. You could reject out of hand the experiences of others. You could make your world smaller and smaller until you have nothing but your security.

Or you could ask yourself a question: what pain is my entitlement protecting?

Just like fujoshi (“rotten girl”) enjoy passing around yaoi, himedanshi (“princess boy”)—sometimes called himejoshi—is a self‑mocking term for men who enjoy yuri. It’s less known than the blanket term “otaku,” partly because of the stigma and partly because fujoshi culture simply has a bigger megaphone. But the dynamic is the same: himedanshi and fujoshi love queer romance stories. And for every Zosan or SasuNaru fujoshi deliberating on their accepted ship name, there’s a yuri pairing getting the same quiet, loyal support from himedanshi. Key among them are NamiVivi from One Piece, Farcille from Delicious in Dungeon, Yoruichi and Soi‑fon in Bleach, and the final boss of himedanshi culture, Nana Komatsu and Nana Osaki from Nana.

Working thru my POV on this. On one hand, AI slop is hell. On the other, I want Libby (an infrastructure provider) making as few editorial decisions as possible. They provide books for libraries to stock. Libraries make the call. I trust the libraries I use to make qualities decisions.
