Hard to believe that the first chapter of my dissertation came out a year ago. We investigated link entanglement in physical networks and found some interesting connections between the network's structure and it's ability to entangle itself. journals.aps.org/prl/abstract...

Belated update: I’m officially a PhD candidate! I proposed my dissertation on how local connection rules shape the global structure of complex systems. I’m developing new network models and metrics to understand this phenomena using tools from statistical inference to knot theory. Excited to dig in!

Recently came across this paper from the @mehr.nz music lab and I cannot get over how cool it is. It puts its finger on the feeling that music has universal patterns spanning societies and introduced a fantastic dataset ripe to study lots of future questions

I've recently become fascinated by #ecologicalnetworks. This excellent review out today may be specific to ecological networks but its arguments ring true for #networkscience in general. Construct your networks intentionally to answer your specific question, not for the methodological ease.
