What does it mean when we say NATO would reinforce the Nordics in case of war? How many, how would they come, and crucially, do we have the transport infrastructure? I've had the opportunity to together with our team talk to a lot of knowledgeable people to find the answer.

Far be it from me to say that not cooperating with authorities always means you did the crime, but one could imagine the time to present the "comprehensive body of irrefutable evidence" was during the investigation they instead made "concentrated efforts to stop and frustrate" ¯\_ (ツ)_/¯

Great for Finland, but to be completely honest my selfish view is that more precipitation in May and less during my vacation in July would have been nice 😅

Back from Stockholm, where the firearm geeks might find it interesting to note that the guards at the palace were using some AK M4A (Swedish Colt M4A1, brought in as a stop-gap rifle) alongside the AK 5 (FN FNC).

As Denmark sends conscripts abroad, it’s time to repost my comment on the Finnish force structure which the politicians doesn’t seem to want to talk about. But, hey, it’s not like there are some worrying signs the resolve of our alliance might be about to be tested? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It might sound a bit farcical, but politicians are people (and often people who went into politics to try to make the world a little bit better), so these kinds of dynamics shouldn't be underestimated (wherever they might lead).

I'm going to guess it is this beauty that is pulling our first F-35s home. Fun fact, the 'T' in KC-135T indicates that is one of the KC-135 that were modified back in the time to be able to supply fuel to the SR-71 Blackbird. The tanker is by now 60+ years old, a true veteran.

While this is without doubt a good and sensible idea, there's just no denying that the MFG Tornados in their grey-white camo roaring low over the waves of the Baltic Sea was a much *cooler* way of providing that capability 😎

While it's definitely serious that a Russian frigate fired flares at a Danish helicopter, it's important to remember that a similar thing happened to a German helicopter in 2024. It would be wrong to interpret this incident as evidence of escalation on its own.

1/x In December 1950, an American freighter with berths for 12 passengers loaded 14,000 refugees and carried them through a minefield to safety. Nobody died. Five babies were born. It remains the largest rescue by a single ship in history, and it ended on Christmas. A small 🧵 #maritimehistory

The Swedish election promises to be a nail-biter, but the even more exciting period may well be the months after the election. If parties stick to their current red lines, there are three or four different coalitions that *may* work - some with significant strain - of which none poll high enough.

To be honest this is why I'm generally happy to see populists try their hands at governing every once in a while. Trying to get busses to run on schedule has a tendency to remove the mystique around "the people's party"-idea.

There's a lot of things that can be said about migrant policy in the UK (and in Europe in general) from a lot of different angles, but for once I fully agree with the words of Farage (even if it might not be quite up to the standard of the masters of rhetoric of old): "Uniforms and masks: Bad." 😅
