GM mayor election: 2nd preference votes split 19.1% Labour 12.7% Reform. Even if ALL Green and Lib Dem 2nd pref votes went Labour (which isn't a wild assumption), and all Restore went Reform, a majority of Tory votes went to Labour rather than Reform (size depending on how Ind votes were split).

I liked our kid's school's approach this year: wear pyjamas and have cosy reading time in class.

So happy for Hannah Spencer. And I'm so so happy for my Levy friends. Well done everyone, and all in Gorton & Denton! A fantastic and clear result. And that was a blistering speech from Hannah Spencer - I can't wait to see her in Westminster. 💚💚💚

At this point we can only assume Labour's plan is to make everything as shit as possible so that at some point nearer the election they can undo it all again and everyone will go ahhh, that's better.
The book A Squash and a Squeeze (where the wise old man tells the woman who thinks her house is too small so he says to take in all her animals and then take them out again) but changed to vaguely look like Keir Starmer and Rachel Reeves

🧵 On 17 December 1976, Thames TV aired a debate about paranormal beliefs. And it turned out to be one of the greatest half hours in British television history. Believe me: it's the best thing you'll see all week. First off, host Sandra Harris gets things rolling: (1/12)

The other highlight has been the latest podcast from @blindboyboatclub.bsky.social - on Donald Trump, climate change, Roman mythology, mental health. Give it a listen, gwan.

On a train to London today, through a frozen and flooded landscape. Highlight has been a pile of manure, steaming away, as if it was a boiling pot. This is the man I've become - a composting obsessive, rubbing my thighs at a steaming pile of manure. Well, I guess there's worse things to be.

I sold out Hammersmith Apollo a few months back, but could easily bump into a school pal who thinks I haven’t released anything since horse outside. The parameters of what is considered fame or success have changed massively. Fame is a construct that’s decided by corporate media, in my experience

And I wouldn't normally use or recommend Twitter any more, but that's where Trainline's customer service team are, so 🤷‍♂️

Obviously I'd prefer to travel to Ireland but this just isn't feasible (first ever time not going home over Christmas period 😢)

For anyone with a Rail & Sail ticket, booked with Trainline, that can't be used due to #Holyhead closure, Trainline customer service are very helpful on Twitter. Sorted my refund that I wasn't able to do on their app/site (due to Advance ticket). Hope you can get sorted.

Cormac 🆑 @cormaggio.bsky.social · 17/12/2024
As far as I can see Stena are accommodating different routes (eg buses to Fishguard) but Irish Ferries aren't. And I'm not sure who can authorise refunds/reroutes here - Trainline or the operator (in my case Irish Ferries).

Cormac 🆑 @cormaggio.bsky.social · 17/12/2024
I've also booked a rail and sail via Trainline - can't even see option of a refund right now, but have yet to phone them. I hope you get some sort of outcome.

I recognise that this in itself is a statement of privilege. I don't have people piling on with racism, misogyny, or other abuse or oppression. I'm not saying I've done anything right or special. I'm simply echoing (ha) what others are saying here.

All the chat today has made me reflect that I've always had an echochamber, without actively pursuing one. I even looked at twitter today for the first time in months (to check something), and I don't see the cesspit that others do. I've always relied on others' screenshots. I don't mind this.

Publisher: Do you want to put an LLM clause in the copyright statement? Me: Definitely. How specific can we get? Publisher: As specific as you like.
The copyright statement from Ephemeral City which reads in part: No part of this book may be used as data for ‘training’ any large language model or as part of any machine learning or neural network architeture. Human creaivity cannot be replicated by doing maths with stolen art. Altman, Andressen, and all their cronies can get fucked. Enquires should be made to the publisher.
