I think the standard image of a flying monkey is not great. Yeah, it’s fantasy, so fur and feathers are fair. I’d start with a lighter frame, like a woolly monkey. Then I’d add wings more like that of a bat.

I still listen to the 7 Wonders app on iOS as one of the best digital versions of a tabletop game. Here’s a weird win. I had planned on getting a lot of 🔵 cards. Ended up war mongering and spamming ⚫️ city cards.

I can't help stopping any show featuring a board game The most typical mistake is showing a chess board with 2 white bishops on 2 white squares or some such. And yeah, you could promote a pawn into a bishop, but who would? This Twilight Zone ep couldn't even do checkers right.

A man and woman play (presumably) checkers with a makeshift board. The man's pieces are washers and the woman's are square nuts.

The man has checkers on white and black squares.
The woman has stacked pieces, even though it's too early in the game for that to be possible.

I'm being firm with my workout schedule too. At 61, it's a bit tougher to get back in shape. I'm committed to 20 minutes of real work on all even numbered days. I allow myself to "bank" one in advance, but I can never borrow one.

Dang This Pendragon series is … I thought the Narnia series was a blunt, heavy-handed Christian metaphor. With each new episode, Pendragon gets more evangelical. It’s not internally consistent. We see various gods throughout. Why would “the one god” make or allow lesser gods? Just dumb

I’m stunned that IBM still exists. Due to an acquisition 5 years ago, I worked for them briefly. At that time, they were transitioning their email from Lotus Notes. They STILL market themselves as leaders in AI, despite having single-digit presence in the AI market; most of that being consulting

I designed them. Laser cut wood.

Prototype. Notice that it's 3 of the 4 layers. The bottom layer is a solid circle.

The cardboard part is from the game itself. I made small thumb grooves to make it easier to lift and rotate the cardboard bit during play.
