I think the standard image of a flying monkey is not great. Yeah, it’s fantasy, so fur and feathers are fair. I’d start with a lighter frame, like a woolly monkey. Then I’d add wings more like that of a bat.

I still listen to the 7 Wonders app on iOS as one of the best digital versions of a tabletop game. Here’s a weird win. I had planned on getting a lot of 🔵 cards. Ended up war mongering and spamming ⚫️ city cards.

I can't help stopping any show featuring a board game The most typical mistake is showing a chess board with 2 white bishops on 2 white squares or some such. And yeah, you could promote a pawn into a bishop, but who would? This Twilight Zone ep couldn't even do checkers right.

The woman has stacked pieces, even though it's too early in the game for that to be possible.

I designed them. Laser cut wood.

Prototype. Notice that it's 3 of the 4 layers. The bottom layer is a solid circle.

The cardboard part is from the game itself. I made small thumb grooves to make it easier to lift and rotate the cardboard bit during play.

I went along with the trend by taking the quiz at mydialect.us/quiz-standar... I’ve been in Dayton Ohio more than half my life, but it hasn’t chipped the paint on my Michigan accent. It didn’t ask about the “dh” sound in “there” or “oo” sound in “mouse” (some Canadian influence near Port Huron)

Day 4 The long stretch from Santa Fe NM, through the upper edge of TX, to Oklahoma City OK 🛣️ Brief side-quest onto historic Route 66 🚙🚗🚕🚓 Hit Cadillac Ranch. Worth looking up. 🦫 Visited a Buc-ee’s for the first time. A big roadside gas station / convenience store but comically large

Stopped at the Cadillac Ranch outside of Amarillo TX. The cars aren’t melting. That’s accumulated spray paint from decades of a successful community art project.

Gotta say AZ skies just hit different. Stunning. I remember thinking the same thing years ago when I was in TX the first time. Drove up through Redrock as the sun was setting. I’ll post pics when I get them from my wife’s phone. Literally breathtaking. As in I kept gasping.

Can’t say I enjoyed the drive out of Redrock. Pitch black, 2 lanes, uuuup and doooown with many segments like this.

What should we make of this headline from Space.c__? When do astronomers or astrophysicists use the term “supersonic” with regards to anything happening outside of Earth’s atmosphere? They don’t. “Faster than a horse” would be equally meaningful. AI? No editor?

Game designers and their spreadsheets. I designed a trick-taker (quelle surprise) in which partners' cards add together if they're the same suit. Each suit is 1-11. BUT, 2s double any card under 8 and 3s triple any card under 8. If our cards match, how good is each?

Just got my copy of "Toy Battle" Love the art! The credits don't list a graphic designer, but whoever they got did a fantastic job. Maybe it was the listed artist, Paul Mafayon? The style perfectly matches the theme. Makes me want to 3D print actual boxes like these. Bravo!
