A professor was lecturing to his English class: “In English, a double negative forms a positive. In some languages, though, a double negative is still a negative. However, there's no language where in a double positive can form a negative.” A voice from the back of the room piped up, “Yeah, right.”

There are 261 working days in 2025. If you write just 1 page a day, that’s just 250-300 wds a day, you can write 2 1/2 scripts or one novel by New Years Eve. If you write just 2 pages a working day (600wds/day) you can write 5 scripts, 2 novels or one 150,000 word magnum opus. Just. Keep. Writing.

Almost a force of nature, a being from a time before history and civilization, an ancient and immense poer- usually an ideal of deep concept personified. They are not mere enemies, but a horror to behold and maybe survive. Thus if a party manages to actually defeat one, it will be legendary.

How do you decide which books to get in physical and which in digital? Personally, I struggle with shelf space, but I still want so many books...

I think I have one thus far, so hopefully it stays like that. But I'm not super active so maybe I'm too small a fish Either way it'll be a waste on their part...

sensitive and inclusive to such a degree. This really cements the understanding that this mob mentality has gone WAAAY too far and lost even the slight traces of the stated intended founding principal. Screw these people, damned bullies that are just looking for prey.

I'm sorry, no. This is not acceptaable behavior. Sure, if there's no other recourse- distance yourself from bullies. But we should stand fast against harrasment campaigns like these and I can't evem fathom the sheer irony of this happenning here of all places, and to someone who emphasizes being

Yochai is one of the best, most community-oriented persons in OSR-and-adjacent spaces. He'll do his work elsewhere. His departure isn't a loss to him, but to TTRPGs here on Bluesky. You fucking idiots. PS: go sign up for the Between Two Cairns patron: www.patreon.com/c/betweentwo...

I think video games are easier because they require less imagination and mental effort to separate the player and GM "sides"

I agree. For a silver lining, I presonally know people who pirated a PDF and bought a physical copy later, or a later product. It sucks and isn't fair, but a consolation would be that it will probably vastly increase awareness of you and the book. I won't pretend it'll be the majority, but

if you want to see it in practise, his YT channel has dozens if not hundreds of "Lazy GM prep" in which he literally preps his next session live, using this template (I've seen gum do this for 5e, Shadowdark and BitD) so if you think it'll be helpful check these out also

Somewhat more detailed view of #TheCompendium. Artistically, it's very pleasing (these here are the inhabitants of the Grey Fortress). The text is for the most part, but some pages that would've been hard to read were replaced with printed text. Dozens of pages of useful random tables. /1

If you're already using Notion, check out Sly Flourish and his Notion Template for campaign and session prep. It's mostly 5e focused and tied to his "8 steps of lazy GM prep", but it's a very useful base Link: slyflourish.com/lazy_dnd_wit... Video tutorial: m.youtube.com/watch?v=24h6...

My current campaign started as a oneshot, so it's in a notebook, 2 notes apps and several dozen free pages that I grab whenever an idea pops up... The next one will hopefully be MUCH more organized, most likely in Obsidian/ Notion

So about the Compendium and how it is different from Cube World modules, besides being a big book and not a PDF. The Inquisitors' Road is one of my fave CW adventures. It's pretty much all text (the way I like it). In the Compendium, however, the NPCs for this adventure are presented like this.

no maps (GM's or players'), max engagement in minimum time- but you're sacrificing the exploration and detailed tracking that can reveal structural secrets (although I kknow it's pretty rare even in OSR circles these days) for a longer version (can be sped up): www.youtube.com/live/_efPDQn...

one for lactions in an area and one for possible encounters in it. 1 is a complication, 4 is the exit (to the target or to the next area). get 3-4 tables like these and you're set for at least one session, and players dread low rolls. it's good to prepare mentally for edge cases, but that's it-
