A professor was lecturing to his English class: “In English, a double negative forms a positive. In some languages, though, a double negative is still a negative. However, there's no language where in a double positive can form a negative.” A voice from the back of the room piped up, “Yeah, right.”

There are 261 working days in 2025. If you write just 1 page a day, that’s just 250-300 wds a day, you can write 2 1/2 scripts or one novel by New Years Eve. If you write just 2 pages a working day (600wds/day) you can write 5 scripts, 2 novels or one 150,000 word magnum opus. Just. Keep. Writing.

How do you decide which books to get in physical and which in digital? Personally, I struggle with shelf space, but I still want so many books...

Tools and tricks for running adventures wherever your players find themselves - in the deserts, underground, in hell, at seas, including this plan of a ship that can be run as a dungeon. /3

Yochai is one of the best, most community-oriented persons in OSR-and-adjacent spaces. He'll do his work elsewhere. His departure isn't a loss to him, but to TTRPGs here on Bluesky. You fucking idiots. PS: go sign up for the Between Two Cairns patron: www.patreon.com/c/betweentwo...

Somewhat more detailed view of #TheCompendium. Artistically, it's very pleasing (these here are the inhabitants of the Grey Fortress). The text is for the most part, but some pages that would've been hard to read were replaced with printed text. Dozens of pages of useful random tables. /1

So about the Compendium and how it is different from Cube World modules, besides being a big book and not a PDF. The Inquisitors' Road is one of my fave CW adventures. It's pretty much all text (the way I like it). In the Compendium, however, the NPCs for this adventure are presented like this.

Realistically, I can only run a single "normal" prepped campaign. However, the urge to try a no prep campaign, possibly open table, has been gnawing at me. I have Xyntillan, StoneHell, The Mythic North and Wolves upon the Coast. Is any of these possible as a no prep? other better suggestions?

Mausritter is a wonderful contradiction. I feel like it's an unappreciated gem, but I get why. There's an internal clash between the whimsical pitch/ art and the gritty play/ mechanics. The character sheet objects don't travel or keep well between sessions. Still highly recommend it.

There’s no such thing as “too many books”—only not enough shelves, not enough time, and not enough space for the dream library with a sliding ladder. But let’s be honest… we’ll keep buying books anyway.

Free League has some good games and high production value but IO they're in great need of an editor and layout people. Organization is lacking and it makes me like the books themselves less, which pisses me off because I really dig the Forbidden Lands vibe and aesthetics

Does anyone here won/ read DoomSong? www.kickstarter.com/projects/cae... apparently I missed the KS but it looks good and I'm a sucker for dark fantasy stuff. it's supposedly a dice pool system. Looking for more detailed review past superficial page through etc.

This dungeon is conceptually what I want my players to engage with. Not yet, the'd die instantly, but building slowly towards it. On the other side is a minimalist take like Stonehell/ Barrowmaze. They're not ready for them either. baby steps...

WWN is a game that has a very particular set of skills, and is REALLY good at what it does, but not as flexible out of the box as I initially thought the tools are still top notch, still really like it

With the year's end nearing, I find myself looking back at some great gaming moments. My players lost their first PC, had a touching funeral. They also got framed for reason, led a violent coup, released an anciect evil into the world, wiped off the whole leadership of a religion/ cult,

Gods of the Forbidden North looks AWESOME! It's like a mix of a structured campaign with wilderness exploration around it. LOTS of adventures, tons of art, maps included. ut's epic fantasy- no high fantasy superpowers bt not the grimdark fighting for scraps. Idig it a lot

So looking forward to getting my hands on these 400 pages of pure LotFP-OSR-D&D-able goodness. (I have some of them as PDFs but, frankly, printed on paper they're much easier to use)
