TL;DR: I was putting in some thought about what phone I would probably get next if my current one should stop working, and then I suddenly remembered this weird "The Chinese Ministry of State Security can also read your texts!1!1!1!1!1!" smear campaign against Huawei and how everyone forgot Snowden.

I like how everyone pretended that Huawei phones are 100% certain to be wiretapped by the Chinese government despite there literally being zero proof for it, while everyone suddenly forgot who Edward Snowden is or what he has told us about (among many other things) iOS and Android all the way back in 2013.

Given how much worse government surveillance has become since then, you can assume that whenever you buy a phone from any Western tech company, that it basically comes pre-installed with Pegasus and Graphite spyware straight from the factory, but the same people who are 100% that Huawei phones have spyware in them, weirdly never mention any concerns about the US and "Israel" may having their fingers in the production process.

I also cannot help but notice that from all the tech companies that exist, both in Western-aligned countries and inside China, the one company they decided to pick for those slanderous allegations has an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) and is a worker co-op, rather than a traditional company with foreign capitalists being able to acquire stocks.
