I think one thing that the MAHA-friendly people of the world do not appreciate is how terrible it is for you to have viruses invade and then live in your body

I’m existentially serious about this. Every good thing that’s ever happened to you, every convenience you enjoy, the whole universe of little miracles we take for granted in this extremely improbable world of ours… it all exists because someone hoped it would and then made it happen.

With so many departures, I am honestly confused how there continue to be any staff members left to quit. How many employees are there? Is it just admin or are there staff for sanitation, parks, etc? Does the police officer count too?

Siskel and Ebert struck on the road to Dollywood
Update, 2008: This 1980 interview is all quite true, but it entirely misses something. It must have happened at a different time, and I can't track down the piece. Here's what I remember. I had a one-on-one interview with Parton in a hotel suite. As we spoke, I found myself enveloped by her presence. This had nothing to do with sex appeal. Far from it. It was as if I were being mesmerized by a benevolent power. I left the room in a cloud of good feeling. Next day, Siskel and I were sitting next to each other on an airplane. "This will sound crazy," he said, "but when I was interviewing Dolly Parton, I almost felt like she had healing powers."

Reminds me of guy I met in Wisconsin who was flying a Trump flag after Dobbs in 2022 because he believed Democrats had criminalized abortion, which he supported, & that Trump was for universal healthcare. Wasn’t insane. Just so far removed from any reliable news source he might as well have been.

The accounts spreading this BS are, overwhelmingly, "nobodies", with no other apparent history or interests outside of amplifying election conspiracies. But they're organized and relentless. All the hallmarks of foreign influence operations. Don't help them by repeating their nonsense.

Getting yelled at by election deniers. Notably, you can't generally tell whether these are people who claim 2020 was stolen from Trump or 2024 from Harris. The script is exactly the same. Claims of "overwhelming" (but unspecified) evidence, bogus statistical nonsense, logical jumps. Generic disinfo.

Incredible. When E—n M—k & his crew obliterated USAID in a weekend, they deleted a vast trove of publicly-funded knowledge: the Development Experience Clearinghouse. A Canadian high school student (!) happened to have downloaded the entire thing for a project. AidData has now posted it for all.
