We'd also like to see the city repurpose existing curbspaces, including on-street vehicle parking spaces, into corrals for parking micromobility vehicles. Such intersection daylighting projects improve visibility and safety for vulnerable road users.
A series of metal bike racks is visible in the curbspace along a street in Seattle. Several bikes have been parked along the racks. A graphic from SDOT that illustrates how it's easier for drivers to spot vulnerable road users (people walking and biking) after intersection daylighting projects are installed.

‪ Our thoughts are with the victim & their loved ones during this horrible tragedy. BPD has said this crash occurred in the parking lot of a nearby business. We have reached out to their Public Information Officer for more on how this crash happened. Bel-Red Rd remains a dangerous street for all.

Media should contact PIO for staging location."

From tactical to traditional & everywhere in between, Park(ing) Day always brings out the best examples of urban seating. Our cities could be more pleasant & accessible if we used some the space where we store cars to store *people* instead. Come see what's possible in Bellevue on September 19th!

There are tall potted plants behind them. In a slanted parking space in Tacoma, an assortment of living room furniture - including a couch and two soft armchairs - have been stationed atop a white and blue rug with a coffee table in the middle. There is also a lamp, ficus, and magazine rack within the space, and the whole installation is reminiscent of a traditional indoor living room. Two men sit within a complex wooden structure composed of short posts that have been assembled into an overall rectangular shape. Thank you to @moveredmond.org for sponsoring our Park(ing) Day event! Our cities *have to* work together to create a more vibrant, connected, and accessible Eastside - we're just lucky we get to do it with such great people! #ParkingDay

As a member city of the National Association of City Transportation Officials (NACTO), Bellevue has access to data, case studies, and best practices that should guide its own transportation planning. We don't need to reinvent the wheel to bring better bus service to Bellevue!
