Fukuyama: the way to avoid this trap is for everyone to read my book, which is titled ironically (world follows basically exactly what he says) Everyone: haha your book title was wrong

It seems to fit the darker and more unhinged mood of that episode, though. Imagine if NBC greenlit that pilot, and the very different Star Trek that might have resulted.

I think watching OG Captain Pike get burned alive in the pilot of TOS Star Trek, The Cage. Not much freaked me out as a kid, but that did.

Best of Both Worlds (along with Yesterday's Enterprise) is not just my favourite TNG episode, it's also my favourite Star Trek adventure, period. I know the outcome of the episode, but I still get goosebumps watching it. It's nearly everything I love in Trek rolled into one.

Next time you visit House of Quark, lemme know if he can hook me up with an old Akira-class ship that nobody wants. I'll pay latinum, up front.

My #dateline snack of some delicious cheese sticks, and spicy sauce. This episode is a doozy, and especially tragic.

I love me some old IBM PCs (DOS and Windows alike), but that's sadly not surprising that there'd be some creeps there.

I've heard that, statistically, most crime is between people who know each other, sadly enough.

I feel like the Twitter commies are even more unhinged than the Bluesky ones, though that's purely a vibe statement from me.

everyone lucked the hell out on the terror attack today where the co-pilot stabbed the pilot, passengers took down the attacker *and* there seem to have been two off-duty pilots who were able to land the plane safely. Could have been one of the worst attacks for a while otherwise.

This game is a lot more exciting than I expected! It's like they remembered at the fourth quarter that it ain't preseason.

I’m still thinking about how nuts the cast was in this game. Hamill Tom Wilson Malcolm McDowell John Rhys Davies John Spencer Holly Gagnier François Chou Richard Riehle Jason Bernard Robert Rusler And that’s just off the top of my head

Wing Commander III through V did FMV damn near perfectly. I think Capt. Eisen is probably my favourite non-Star Trek captain. I love the well-rounded attitude he bought to the role. Ever read any of the books? I like those even more than the games.

Ever read the novelizations for the Kirk era films? They usually add a TON of extra detail to the films. The first quarter of The Search For Spock doesn't even happen in the film!

Whenever any of my various sportsball teams have a bad day or season, I just call it a Fan Loyalty Season. As a lifelong fan of the Spurs, Niners, and the Orioles, I think I've gone through a few of those. :P

Recently, I just started replaying Red Alert Retaliation, on PS1. I'm doing this playthrough with a PS1 mouse, which makes it a lot easier to play. I forgot just how dark this game gets. A good chunk of the Allied campaign is stopping Soviet chemical weapons!

I've grown to love the Enterprise flyby and departure scenes from TMP, and I'd imagine that some audiences in 1979, raised on the small TV Enterprise, were probably even more blown away.

Nice list! I remember getting SimTower as part of a package that had a bunch of other Sim games, including the Win32 port of SimCity. Ever played the Saturn version? And I got mildly obsessed with Battletech last year, after playing the tabletop game at MegaCon. It was a lot of fun!

Since we're on the topic and maybe like-minded....I was thinking about how, as much I love the Federation ship designs of Disco (though I HATED the Klingon ships that weren't the real D7), I think I would've liked more if they were closer to the old TOS/Franz Joseph design, but with some new blend.

Comchia.rar 🇺🇸🇺🇦🇹🇼🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ @comchia.bsky.social · 23/09/2026

Yeah, I very much agree! There's plenty of space to like or not like a show (like, I HATED the first couple Picard seasons and Nemesis), but the way some haters go into deodorant-avoiding gatekeepy territory derails a lot of needed critique.
