Though the theme fills me with existential dread, I love this song and the spoken intro by Raymond Kurzweil! I found it fascinating that OLP made a whole “Spiritual Machines” concept album exploring man/machine/singularity questions. I even have a cover on YouTube somewhere, lol.

I had a very yucky encounter with him at a MF show at my uni in the early 90s. When he got his Q show and folks would gush over him, I’d tell them he’s a predator. No one believed me (“he’s so intelligent”etc.) and when the truth finally came out, they pretended to not remember me saying anything. 🤷‍♀️

Today’s issues: my accountant filed taxes with an obsolete form, Service Cda didn’t upload the docs I handed them to HQ, my bro’s care home double charged rent. People were paid to process all 3 things, yet I had to fix their errors for free.

My first volunteer job was as a candy striper (not stripper, lol) at a senior’s residence. One of my duties was to give 4 cigarettes to EACH person on bingo nights, whether they smoked or not. All cigarettes got smoked by the event’s end so the air was toxic. Unbelievable to think of now.

I can relate. I don’t use Shazam but, just this week, I looked up lyrics for an abhorrent song on a workout playlist, so I could identify it and ask my gym to “pretty please” mute it from their repertoire. It was “Thief” by Ookay, for anyone who’s curious. One bad ear worm can wreck me for a week.

Great list! I was surprised how difficult it is to have a home retrofitted with solar. Firms seem to push net metering vs installing batteries, which would allow you to control use. I assume pressure from the utilities is at play but the process is so inflexible, I can see why folks don’t bother.

Once upon a time… A vulnerable child with complex needs learned to use picture cards to communicate his needs and ideas at school. He learned to use visual schedules, first/then visuals, and social narratives to understand what were initially confusing and chaotic routines in his day.

I somewhat agree. We knew SARS-1 was airborne yet didn’t use this in SARS-2 response. Our hantavirus experience indicates p2p spread isn’t typical, so we may plan accordingly, although some strains can/do. It’ll be hard to tell if early efforts were sufficient with such a long incubation period.
