It's underrated the extent to which actually making every single school in large districts do these simple things can make schools better. Pick a CPS school and chances are they won't be doing all of these and may be doing none. And the variance within community areas is fairly significant!

The inside zone aiming point is classically frontside B to backside A but this varies from team to team. Michigan runs it pretty much backside A to backside B, the Meyer School. The problem is when you also want to run Duo/Power, all of your runs now encourage LBs to scrape opposite the OL flow.

I really don’t know what to make of the penalties. I do agree that holding has become way more ticky tacky out of nowhere but I’d guess the league office let teams know that it was going to get emphasis this year too. But we’ve killed what feels like a quarter of our drives with dumb penalties.

DCs like C1 on early downs bc it’s sound vs run and pass but every week I see teams bust when C1 defenders are put in run/pass conflict. If your front doesn’t protect them from making quick decisions or you don’t know who has what vs motions and formations, you’re gonna end up short a man vs gap.

Some kind of quarters fire zone from Illinois on that TD. In the NFL esp. vs condensed formations you get this nice umbrella vs deep routes that you can pass off comfortably. In CFB there’s too much space and now you don’t get a chuck on the slot bc he’s blitzing.
