UPDATE ON WSOCIAL - the new European social network platform. It’s hopeless. I’ve spent hours over several days trying to get it to work on my phone and tablet. I’ve now given up and asked them to delete me. Pity. It sounded like a good project.

“You’re fake news… you’re fake news….” Trump lashes out like a toddler at reporters telling him his poll numbers suck (with Hispanics too) and there’s no proof of fraud with mail-in ballots despite his lies — both true ✅ ✅

OpenAI should be held legally accountable for any actions carried out by its AI. As a corporation and its individual officers. Then they might behave responsibly?

My mother died 30 years ago after a long and difficult illness. I'm running the Oxford Half this October in her memory and to raise money for Occtopus, the Oxford Colon Cancer Trust. They do good work, and any donations would be gratefully received. www.justgiving.com/page/tim-har...

Very good analysis of the state of the Tory Party by Time Bale centrewrite.brightblue.org.uk/the-keminais...

The Keminaissance is a myth. The Tories are still like a weird uncle.
Badenoch’s increasing tendency towards being ‘extremely online’ has led the party to paint itself into an ‘anti-woke’ corner that, to the majority of Brits who do not spend much time online…

The big reforms Burnham outlined are interlinked. There will be no viable expansion of the social state without Brexit being resolved. To embed the UK's long-term relationship with the EU electoral reform is necessary to reduce minority disruption. Equally, for enabling devolution to work.

You original post claimed Burnham’s agenda was “reinstate alcohol at UK football matches & get the guards at Buckingham Palace to wear nylon hats”. And that his world was local politics, when he’s been an MP and in Cabinet before. So excuse me for not taking you seriously.

PS I’m retired so not ‘hiding in academia’. The only place I hide is my allotment 😀 And even when I was an academic I didn’t “hide”. I worked with police, prisons, probation, intelligence agencies, international governments and many other practitioners.

Don’t know whether you’ve seen this? Burnham really isn’t a traditional tax and spend Labour politician with better Tik Toks but someone with a (not entirely developed) alternative theory of politics and power, who has a tendency to say things without always thinking through the consequences.

I left school at 16 and worked for over 20 years before I became an academic. Including technician, manual and white collar jobs. I went into teaching to convey some of what I’d learnt from practical experience. All of which is easily discoverable. So nice try but wrong again.

Thanks for proving my point. Just another one too lazy to find out what he’s really about. Making superficial “hot takes” rather then bother to try and understand.

Not deliberately. It just gets totally ignored by the political commentariat. And I have to say also mostly by political science academia.

Yep. Been like that since 1927. Interestingly current PM is one. One previous PM was a member of both Parties but only a candidate for one.

PS You’re in good company. Try and find an article in any MSN that mention the Party. Or any academic work on the Party. There is some. But not much. Even tho it’s been around for a century.

Most of them seem to be struggling to adapt to Burnham cos his political agenda is so far outside the WH/WM bubble. Far easier to fall back on gossip and speculation games.
