We're so very proud of this! Not much of the journal metrics per se (they don't always reflect well what they're supposed to measure...), but of the fact that we offer a reputable outlet for strong cognitive science outside of commercial logics. Send us your best papers, folks!

How to best estimate Bayes factors for standard hypothesis tests? We compared bridge sampling and the Savage-Dickey density ratio. The latter does a good job in most constellations typical for experiments in cognitive psychology.

Reliability, bias, and computational cost of estimating the Bayes factor using bridge sampling and the Savage–Dickey density ratio - Behavior Research Methods
Bayes factors often require numerical estimation because closed-form solutions are unavailable. In six simulation studies, we explored the reliability, bias, and computational cost of two easy-to-use ...

New Publication Alert! 🚨 Along with @koberauer.bsky.social and @agnesrosner.bsky.social we investigated if eye movements are functional for memory retrieval in an associative recognition task and largely found evidence against it. Read more: link.springer.com/article/10.3... #workingmemory

New #bmm release by @gidon-frischkorn.bsky.social and @venpopov.bsky.social. If you work with response time data in R, this makes hierarchical Bayesian estimation considerably easier. Details in the thread below. #rstats #cognitivemodeling

After hundreds of studies on the retro-cue effect in working memory, we thought that we understood what caused it. Not quite - check out our new paper: psycnet.apa.org/record/2027-...

Can we remove information from working memory and still maintain it in the long term - or the other way around? It turns out to be difficult. If you want to know more, check out our new paper: journalofcognition.org/articles/10....

New work from our lab: Can psychometric methods alone tell us what cognitive tasks measure? @gidon-frischkorn.bsky.social, Ricardo Rebmann & @koberauer.bsky.social argue no – and show how computational models can do what correlations between tasks cannot. 🧵👇

New work from members of the Cognition Lab Zurich! @chenyuli.bsky.social, @gidon-frischkorn.bsky.social & @koberauer.bsky.social tested whether information can be processed without entering working memory. Results suggest that processing brings even task-irrelevant information into working memory.

Two traditions in action control research - BRAC and procedural WM - often talk past each other. This latest review from members of our lab and colleagues from the BRAC community connects them conceptually and computationally, showing how procedural WM can reproduce key BRAC effects.

Is WM a gateway to LTM? In this registered report we find that higher WM load rarely impairs LTM encoding - suggesting WM capacity is not a bottleneck for forming LTM traces. @as-souza.bsky.social @edamizrak.bsky.social @cognition-zurich.bsky.social psycnet.apa.org/record/2026-... [1/3]

Memory researchers have known this: If we leave more free time between one study item and the next, memory is better. This is true for WM and LTM - but is it so for the same reason? Probably not. If you want to know more, have a look at our new paper in JEP:General: psycnet.apa.org/record/2026-...

Good news for all those of us who plan to grow old: Some forms of learning do not decline in old age. Our new paper in Psychology and Aging shows equivalent learning rates in older and younger adults in chunk learning, tested through the Hebb repetition effect.
