Very interesting! It's interesting how the times and institutions change. I started undergrad only knowing of clinical psychology not even knowing basic psych research was a thing. And just happened to find myself in basic cognition/perception courses that I'm forever grateful for

Ah I see what you're getting at. I suppose there is no limit on what you can bury under a clinical program. But I don't think I've seen it done so completely. Even small schools with virtually no research have still maintained that "basic psychology" in my experience but I hardly know every school!
