Being able to extend our own tooling in a few minutes - if you have an Emacsen type of software and a coding agent with enough memories, understanding, and access - is wild. I build new Emacs features on a whim, from one thread to the next. This is the golden age of building our own tools.

Submodules scarred me enough at my first git-using job that I'm dismissing it out of hand even today. Recently caught myself doing this, thinking that it was about time I re-evaluate and see if it can actually be used ok without shattering the git porcelain. Taking your post as evidence to not.

Why’re they called adversarial reviews when they make me so happy? Joke aside, I have a feeling that the word “adversarial” has stronger connotations between model families than what I’ve been using for a long time; “get XYZ’s perspective”. Sol has been earning its keep, indeed.

If you have ADHD. And you do agent things. Can you really trust your own memory about how your agent remembers things? Or… are you, as I am, doomed to build your own memory layer?

It's the biggest fumble of a movie by the 90% done mark I've ever seen. Easily +2 on a dice roll grade if the movie had ended before the nonsensical "nothing matters and you weren't supposed to pay attention or think or follow the plot at all" ending. Then it breaks even that in the last 10 seconds.

Has anyone else using #emacs wanted the status bars (mode-line, header-line, tab-line, tab-bar) to be multi-line? Similarly, have any users ever wanted the margin to be multi-column? I'm working on a couple extensions to solve, and wanted to assay the community to see how prevalent this issue is

Here are mine: tangled.org/strings/code... They work well for Claude and GPT based models. I set these as "Instructions for Claude" in my Claude app settings - nothing to do with Claude Code. It makes a world of difference to give the model escape hatches, if nothing else.

I feel more and more like an outlier with a super strict set of custom inductions. Empty system instructions is just... an ocean of sycophantic slop. Then again I do a lot of introspection and cause tracing and without instructions the apologetic reflexes trigger so hard every turn derails.

Lol, Norway’s biggest news conglomerate Schibsted wants to sell the approximate location (within 500m) of basically every Norwegian to dozens of companies. You can pay not to share. You still have to pay extra to read the paywalled articles. And even if you’ve paid twice they’ll still show you ads.

Yeah I was thinking of different ways for me to reason about the LLM interactions I have - especially now that I have memory happening inside of Emacs too. I often move between workspaces and have agent-shell buffers in each, and I wonder about these threads as further workspace descendants.

For the extremely-systems-level-stuff rust still makes sense - for example building the Gleam language itself. I also think Mojo will start to take off for things that really want to use different bit sizes like inference on specialized hardware. Then it'll take off for everything Python.
