I'm liking it so far. It's running what I want it to run at a comfortable 60 fps. I know it's not going to run the latest AAA titles at 4k/60-120fps, but then I don't tend to play the latest AAA titles so that's fine. The controller is neat, too.

Forbidden Solitaire (PC) I didn't know I needed an horror/solitaire hybrid game with an 80s dark fantasy theme, but it turns out I did. Everything about this game is amazing, from the gameplay loop to the FMV videos, to the bonkers plot. I beat it in one sitting and can't recommend it enough.

Pokémon Legends ZA (Switch 2) The active battles were a nice change from traditional Pokémon games...for a while. Eventually it got kind of annoying. Which is kind of the thing with this game: new ideas that start off fun, but wear out their welcome by the end. Still a fun time overall, though.

I'd argue that GKCs are not ownership, they're just transferable licenses which are different. I own my copy of Legends ZA, for example. If the servers go down, I can still play my game. The same is not true for whoever is holding the bag at the end of the GKC train - it's just a piece of plastic.

From my perspective there's no fundamental difference between the two, and you can add GKC in to the list. And the bullshit some publishers do with disc-based games where they're effectively GKCs. If I'm buying physical, I want the whole-ass game.

Yeah, XBS was was only hard to get for a few months, but the PS5 issues persisted for a long time. Also, part of me wonders if the soft sales excuse isn't hiding something else. Reduced production due to skyrocketing memory prices, or a tacit acknowledgement of no killer app in 2026. Or both.

I think you're confusing production limits (or simply "oops we didn't make enough") with the two-year supply disruption following covid. It's not apples to apples, neither Sony nor MS were able to properly ramp up production until well over a year after launch.

Link's Awakening (Switch) A certified classic from the original Game Boy, remade with more modern graphics and QoL changes. It's not particularly challenging, but it's a lot of fun. To hell with that depressing-ass ending, though.

VN/dating sim, yeah. The thing about the key cards is anytime there's a game I want on one, it's also on PS5, and on the disc. So...I just buy it there. It's not much of an exaggeration to say that Nintendo has been Sony's best advertiser, at least for me.

I'm sure they'd like to, but the technical hurdle probably cannot be overcome. S/V barely worked on Switch, and the new ones look to be a decent step up graphically. I'm willing to bet there's a messed up spot on a desk at Game Freak HQ where they tried to run it on a Switch and it melted.

S/V barely ran on the Switch, there was no way the new ones would be anything but S2 exclusives. Day one for me. I legitimately wonder if that'll be my first S2 game purchase. (Spoiler: it won't, I'm importing a game later this year; so we'll go with first ESRB S2 purchase.)
