Republicans Don’t Know Ball Update: A hockey blogger asked the two Michigan Senate candidates for statements on the Red Wings. Rogers: blah blah Michigan loves the Red Wings El-Sayed: angry rant about how the cheap owners MUST pay Detroit’s young star defenseman octopusthrower.com/what-each-mi...

"Hockeytown, USA will always be a coveted destination for the world's top players,"
Rogers said. "The Detroit Red Wings boast one of the league's most storied and respected histories, dating back to their days as one of the Original Six franchises.
Few professional organizations can match the tradition, legacy and rpestige that define this iconic franchise. GO WINGS!"

"I was at the game when Darren McCarty took on Claude Lemieux," El-Sayed said.
"The '97 and '98 Stanley Cup championships are still highlights of my childhood. The teams the last few years have been a far cry from the Wings I came to love as a kid. They're stacking losing season on losing season, yet the llitch family's wealth has done nothing but grow.
Michiganders are sick of sky-high ticket and concession prices buying them nothing but disappointment.

"The team holding out on Simon Edvinsson is just the latest example in a long series of ownership prioritizing their bottom line over the team and the fans. Our teams aren't just assets for billionaires, they're part of our culture and heritage. Hockeytown deserves better."

Crazy game in Columbus tonight - drama and real bad blood between the teams. Via @bensteiner00.bsky.social, Crew coach Laurent Courtois was sharply critical of Miami gamesmanship postgame: "I would be red carded after five minutes against those guys. What they do is bad for the game, and it's sad."

#Crew96 were minutes away from a damaging draw in a game they dominated. But their efforts were rewarded w/ a bad spill from a Miami keeper who looked shaky all night and an alert poach from Thiare. What a sensational game, and a vital Crew victory.

Hard to believe #Crew96 won’t clean house at season’s end — barring a Cup win. This was always going to be a transitional season, but all the changes have not made them better. They need a new GM and coach. It’s a bad team.

To answer @knaas.bsky.social: Disrespected Media source confirms that Santi Rodriguez is on a plane headed for Columbus. There is a world where the deal for his transfer from Botafogo gets done before he lands. I's being dotted, T's crossed. It's 96% done. #Crew96%

This will be the last #Crew96 outgoing transfer this window. The only business left is whether MLS and Botafogo's creditors find a way to rubber-stamp a Santi Rodriguez transfer to Columbus.

COLUMBUS – Columbus Crew 2 announced today the transfer of defender Chris Rogers to Sandvikens IF of Superettan, the second division of Swedish Football, for an undisclosed transfer fee. The Crew will retain a percentage of future transfer fees for Rogers, as well as a buy-back clause for the rights to his contract.

Rogers departs the Club after making 80 appearances and 74 starts for Crew 2. He signed with the Capybaras in 2024 and logged 6,592 minutes, three goals and five assists across his four seasons with Crew 2.

Just got home from #Crew96 match. Still amazed at how much the team didn’t look like they wanted to be there. Not sure I’ve been at a Crew game before where the team was getting boo’d before the final whistle. I’d love to win USOC, but regardless of result, time to clear house.

Mike de Bear ⭐️⭐️⭐️ @coachdebear.bsky.social · 28/08/2026

You aren’t wrong wonder if buy out was less then contract had left just to move on from both sides making it an easier decision on that front

There’s an elaborate diagram on Bez’s whiteboard with arrows between garden gnomes catching fire, sacking a coach before the World Cup, negotiating with a team that owes the league money, dubious quarter zips, and a last-minute game reschedule which were all necessary in order to buy out Gazdag.

I think just because he doesn’t help us at all so just realize a sunk cost and move on esp w Martinez Tapia and Santi He’s been that bad that being gone is better than being around at all!

Bottom line: There is certainly something to @tombogert.bsky.social report, per usual. Whether it gets done is another thing. I am harkening back to the summer of '23, when the league would not let #Crew96 keep both Zelarayan and Rossi, because Columbus is not #ClubInternacionaldeFútbolMiami
