Cool graphic from The Athletic. Haaland’s discipline is impressive. But what really catches the eye is the number of times Darwin Nunez was offside since 2022. He’s among the leaders, and didn’t even play in the PL last season. #LFC

Biggest takeaway from #Crew96 victory: Columbus played like a spot in the Open Cup really mattered, while Orlando could not have looked less invested. Visitors mustered 3 shots over the final 66 minutes of the game. To be fair, credit belongs to the Crew’s structure and hustle.

#Crew96 headed to Open Cup final on the strength of an excellent second half. Got an early goal from Mendez and didn’t give Orlando a sniff. Small crowd, but fun atmosphere. The Santi assist for the winner will love long in the memory.

That might be the prettiest #Crew96 assist since Cucho left town. What a ball from Santi. Mendez with a tap in.

040

Small gathering for #Crew96 Open Cup semifinal. Feels like a Cleveland baseball game at the old stadium in the late 80s. All that’s missing is the dude yelling. “Juu, Juu, Juuuuuulio.” Diehards who are here are into the game. Big 45 minutes ahead.

If goalkeeping was just a matter of stopping shots, Mamardashvili could be #LFC keeper of future. He made 3 or 4 excellent saves today in 3-1 Carabao Cup win over Spurs. It’s the other parts of his game that are worrying. His distribution & decision making — like on Spurs goal off corner. (1/2)

Love ‘em or loathe ‘em, 10-man City w/ a helluva win at Old Trafford. Gonna be some title race with Arsenal.

Hard to believe #Crew96 won’t clean house at season’s end — barring a Cup win. This was always going to be a transitional season, but all the changes have not made them better. They need a new GM and coach. It’s a bad team.

2197

#LFC showed no sharpness in final third and deserved nothing more than a draw. Nobody on this team can supply a decent cross. Florian Wirtz detractors will tee off on today’s effort. Liverpool sloppy in possession throughout. Jacquet merits a special mention. Played well defensively & saved a goal.

Pretty cool #Crew96 have start a Middlesboro supporters club out of Parsons North in honor of former Crew players on the team.

A season ago, #LFC allowed reeling opponents like Spurs & Chelsea come to Anfield and get results. Fulham looking to add their names to the list. Liverpool so sloppy in possession. Fortunate to be scoreless

Please consider subscribing. Mike is fighting the good fight and his columns are excellent. Looking forward to Year 2. Also, happy birthday to the great man.

#Crew96 playoff hopes fading to black w/ loss at DC. Funeral processions move quicker than United’s buildup to their second goal. And Baribo still gets several yards behind Crew’s back line.

My goodness the attendance for tonight's #Crew96 game in DC looks like something we saw as the sports world was coming out of the grips of Covid.

#LFC earn a hard-fought UCL opening win over ATM. MacAllister backs up contract talk w/ spirted performance & goal. Araujo w/ a back heel assist! He’s been good as has been Jacquet. Hopefully, Barcola injury not serious. He was lively, but oh that was a Nunez-like miss. Kerkez w/ a rough outing.

Barcola debut was story coming into game, but it was last year’s big money signing who delivered Iraola’s first win for #LFC. Isak oozed quality w/ a classy brace - both goals assisted by Gakpo. Loved the high pressing & aggressiveness. Won lots of duels & second balls. (1/2)

Source: Santi Rodriguez contract is done. Last piece is Int’l Clearance Transfer paperwork. I’d guess that official announcement from #Crew96 will come this afternoon and Rodríguez will be introduced tomorrow.

#LFC were never gonna add enough players to make them title contenders. Too many holes to fill & an overall lack of physicality. This is a transition season. Hopefully, Barcola, Wirtz & Isak can form a good partnership. I see them finishing anywhere from fifth to 10th this season.

Boos ring out at the final whistle. #Crew96 season in free fall with fifth consecutive loss.

070

Totally unacceptable level of effort from #Crew96. It’s embarrassing.

0110

Another turnover while trying to play out from back leads to Revs’ 3-1 goal only for it to be overturned by VAR for offside. #Crew96 have put up scant resistance since falling behind. Wasn’t the extra day off supposed to help them?

070

#Crew96 have four shots thru 70 minutes, including only one on goal. They would have a second shot on goal had Martinez not inadvertently blocked it.

Tom Reed @tomba1919.bsky.social · 29/08/2026

Not for the first time this season, #Crew96 inability to play out from the back killing them. Revs wearing out the turf in & around Crew’s 18-yard box. Shots 13-2. Score 2-1 New England. Doesn’t help when your target man for long balls might not be tall enough to ride the big coasters.

0124

One good tweak was Rio and Munoz flipping sides late in the game. Wirtz had a decent showing - assisted on Munoz goal & had one wiped out by Frimpong offside. Munoz has caught the eye in both appearances. The #LFC fullback situation is dire. Frimpong was poor and Kerkez wasn’t much better.

#LFC start season w/ consecutive draws, and have not led in 180+ minutes of play. Games like this remind us Liverpool have so little bite in their game. They are a collection of high-priced players w/ narrow shoulders. Gakpo has been their best forward thru 2 games. Just as we all expected. (1/2)

Iraola could not have been handed a worse home-opening opponent & coach. #LFC stick figures having trouble with Forest’s physical & direct approach. Add in Glasner, who almost never loses to Liverpool. Forest well on their way to a third consecutive win at Anfield.

Tom Reed @tomba1919.bsky.social · 27/08/2026

Taha, who has been criminally overplayed because #Crew96 have no choice, with his best game in weeks. One of the few bright spots along with Schulte. And maybe Lennon.

Tom Reed @tomba1919.bsky.social · 27/08/2026

#Crew96 could have scored twice in first half, but also could have allowed four or five. Mendez w/ a pitiful PK. Schulte w/ several spectacular saves to cover up shoddy defending of counters. Chambost has to stick his foot in there to stop Rodriguez from cutting inside for second goal.

#LFC thread: How many times have Liverpool scored late at St. James’ Park? Szoboszlai rescues a point from the spot at the death, holding his nerve in the first test from 12 yards in the post-Salah era. Munoz’s pace evident to win penalty. Good result given struggles at both ends.

110

Don’t have much expectation for #LFC this season, & it will be hard to judge them until transfer window closes. But unless Wirtz & Isak improve on last year, they won’t compete for a Champions League spot. They barely impacted game in first half, & Rio doesn’t look comfortable so far on the right.

#Crew96 piss away all 3 points in stoppage time. Dreadful defending on Nashville’s first and third goals. On the winner, Crew defenders anticipate a cross and goal scorer is left unmarked in the box. Gut punch loss.

Tom Reed @tomba1919.bsky.social · 16/08/2026

Spectacular goal from Gomes. But give Taha credit for winning the free kick. He hustled after the loose ball and stuck his 140-pound frame in front of the Nashville player to draw the foul. #Crew96
