A statement from Vice-Chancellor Prof Irene Tracey following the UK Government’s renewed focus on the Oxford/Cambridge corridor:
“Oxford University welcomes the new growth commission and the government’s renewed focus on the Oxford/Cambridge corridor.

The Oxford-Cambridge region is a powerhouse of innovation and an economic crown jewel, driven by world-leading universities that spin-out as well as attract globally pioneering companies.

As a supercluster, we create thousands of jobs and attract millions in investment that benefits local and national efforts for growth and prosperity through partnerships, such as that between Oxford and Birmingham.

Our efforts additionally bring transformative societal and health benefits that go beyond life sciences and tech with our recognised strengths in the creative arts and humanities.”
