A firing squad is more humane for the condemned, but worse for the executioners and the witnesses. If we're going to continue to be barbaric and have a death penalty, we should at least be honest and efficient about what the state is doing, instead of hours long torture sessions.

Why go to the same pub or restaurant in my neighborhood repeatedly when I can try out many different places all over the city? We have so much more available to us with our time and we crave novelty, so build community through repetition becomes much harder.

A thriving third space is built on people going to a place repeatedly. The thing that car culture gave us, was cars: the ability to go to many more places that are further away from our neighborhoods. People have more options now than generations ago, so that repeated attendance doesn't happen.
