Took me 15 years to even think about following my research subjects again. Getting a PhD in an openly-hostile department broke me, and I left. Did get the degree though. And did publish my novel with a Big 5. And not one dept member came to my reading when the book came out.

I loved my Honda Fit with my whole heart, but it didn't hold up to driving over the Bozeman pass in winter -- and my beloved lived in terror that I'd be crushed by a giant murder truck. If they did an EV version, I'd run right out and buy one. Even if it did mean putting in a charger.

I suspect this shitshow was staged to raise a bunch of right wing money from being "cancelled." The city commissioners were RUTHLESS about shutting down all talk of movie content or protest. Testimony was about safety, blocking businesses and intimidating the food bank. But also, fuck those guys.

That's what I've always done with chanterelles too. I did experiment this year with a batch of very large oyster mushrooms. Cut them into cooking-sized pieces, boiled in salted water until tender, drained and froze on a sheet pan. Then into ziplocs. They've been pretty good in breakfast eggs.
