It is. I mean, in the history of education, there will always be students who cheat. But when it's such an easy option, students who wouldn't have tried it a decade ago will now consider it.

True. Although it's been a significant topic of Colorado River discussions for awhile, even if it's not as widely known. And I still think it's not a bad thing to care about water usage for data centers, even if it is *currently* at a smaller magnitude.

On the flip side, my in-person upper division course of Climatology is absolutely delightful. The students are wonderful and very engaged. So, I at least still have some hope for the future.

I'm teaching an online course of Global Climate Change this semester, and out of my 35 students, I'm 90% sure that 10 of them have completely used AI for the course. Like, no looking at materials at all, just using AI to take the quizzes. How are we even supposed to combat this?

August 28th, 1990: 1990's deadliest tornado carved a devastating path through Plainfield, Illinois. The F5 damaged or destroyed over 1,000 structures and produced extreme ground scouring. Twenty-nine people were killed, and 350 were hurt. Dr. Fujita personally surveyed this event.

When I was a kid, I would use the word HOMES to recall the names of the lakes. Change the O to an A, and the word would have to be SHAME which honestly feels appropriate.

The seasonality of extreme warmth was really stretched this year in Fort Collins. Back in March we had our first 90°F day forty-five (45) days earlier than one had ever been observed. Then yesterday (Aug 21) it reached 101°F, which is nearly 3 weeks later than any previous 100-degree day. #cowx
