I think we need to give people the benefit of the doubt honestly, until proven otherwise. We need to ask questions, have conversations, and think critically before passing judgement. Social media makes it too easy to jump into the hype before the full picture is revealed.

I work at a public library. People who want to use AI seem to have no trouble doing so. People who don't want to use AI have a harder time. the "oh interesting that these authors betrayed us all for ai" thing going around is from 2022, so maybe take a pause before you start frothing at the mouth about it. they were pretty open about it. that's around when i was testing ai tools to see if they would help with executive dysfunction.

The context is given several posts deep into a thread most people sharing the first post (which already has 100s of shares) will not read, & is then dismissed by the thread author on what is imo an unreasonably ungenerous reading of the facts. I question the motives of directing anger in this way.
