The youngest person his pager attack killed was 9-year-old Fatima Abdullah, who had just started 4th grade. The pager was on a table when it went off and she picked it up to take to her dad. It exploded in her face and reports said it covered the room in her blood. She wanted to learn English.

NBA players have access to American basketball coaches (who are the best in the world) starting before middle school. Basketball camps here are run and staffed by the most elite players and coaches worldwide. They are identified and put into that pipeline early. That you don’t know that is hilarious

By the time he was in middle school he was attending camps with elite coaches and athletes. The United States has an elite basketball coaching funnel that incentives talent and gets them in front of elite coaches for the age group. We simply do not have those coaches of that level for soccer.

The greatest soccer player to ever lace them up is a guy that is 5’7. No level of size or speed has surpassed that skill. And fwiw there’s not even getting to “a certain level of skill” here in the USA. They all have to go overseas for that.

Wouldn’t be anywhere the level of Beckham bc he wouldn’t have skill training from age 8 or so up. Skill development is key. Beckham had world class coaching as a child. AI wouldn’t get that here.

You cannot make up for lack of skill with athleticism in soccer. It doesn’t work like that. It those players in the nfl or nba filtered into USA soccer they wouldn’t get the skill training.

I get it. My sister played in the youth national pipeline then high level D1 soccer in the early 2000s. You could see it then. coaches favored size of players. Girls that were not skilled but bigger than the competition. Skills were afterthoughts. That’s not true in other systems.

Our dominance is not what it was but our women are still what they aspire to. Coaching at the youth level will eventually kill that advantage in full similar to the men. Skill development is an afterthought in our youth system. Men and women.

True and this is a product of the early adoption of women’s soccer combined with funding from Title IX. Women worldwide came here for college soccer bc there were no pro or even amateur opportunities for a long time. It’s apples and oranges to compare that to men’s soccer

Our college system was perfect for developing our women’s team in the absence of a pro system like the men had worldwide. Women from all over came to play in that
