James Talarico: I want to get back to the kind of capitalism we had in the middle of the 20th century in this country. I want competition, but it’s got to be fair competition. We’ve got to take on these monopolies, this consolidation, because again it’s fundamentally anti-capitalist.

ICE just ADMITTED that it is using a warehouse in Roxbury NJ for “detainee processing” in direct violation of a court order. Activists are mobilizing, and we need a finding of criminal contempt. Here’s a statement from Project NINJA (no ICE in North Jersey Assn).

ICE Admits Use of Roxbury Warehouse, in Defince of Federal Court Order, for Detainee "Processing" ond Training; Project NINJA Colls for Action from NJ ond Roxbury Officials
ROXBURY, NJ - On Tuesday, Oct 13, U.S. Rep Analilia Mejia shared an email from ICE with Gothamist reporter Mike Hayes. In responding to her request for an oversight visit, ICE officials stated they had repeatedly brought detainees to the Roxbury warehouse for "initial processing" (claiming that detainees were not brought inside the warehouse).
At that evening's Roxbury Town Council meeting, Deputy Mayor Mark Crowley read a prepared statement providing their summary of these events, in which he further revealed that, in addition to "initial processing" of detainees, ICE has also been conducting training inside the warehouse for months.
These admissions come during a NJ Office of the Attorney General (OAG) investigation into evidence that ICE has, for months, been violating a federal court order prohibiting their usage of the warehouse.
This court order covers the entire premises: not just inside the building, but the parking lot and even the surrounding woods. All ICE is permitted to do is maintenance and security, nothing more. “While ICE might be claiming not to have brought detainees inside the warehouse, they admitted they violated the court order by using the property for detention operations, and should be sanctioned accordingly," says David Broderick, legal advisor to Project NINJA.
These admissions are only a result of ongoing allied pressure from elected officials like Rep. Mejia, and local citizens like Project NINJA, Eyes on ICE, rapid responder groups, and others. As Rep. Mejia said, "[DHS] only stopped when whistleblowers spoke up."
"The tireless work of local citizens and concerned elected officials is all that's stopping ICE from escalating their lawlessness," says
Birdie Green, co-founder, Project NINJA.

1/2 Judge Kelly helps point the way in press ban case. It's in the legal weeds, but has big implications for future litigation as more courts do this. Following a signal from Supreme Court and Chief Justice Roberts, the district court looks behind the pretext of POTUS motives.
As the Supreme Court explained in considering the government’s explanation in a different context, the Court is “not required to exhibit a naiveté from which ordinary citizens are free.” Dep’t of Com. v. New York, 588 U.S. 752, 785 (2019). Freed from such a naiveté, it is not hard to conclude that President Trump likely banned Plaintiffs from the White House because he believes that their reporting is generally inaccurate and biased against him. For that reason, all told, Plaintiffs are likely to succeed on their First Amendment retaliation claim.

WOW. Kristi Noem and Elon Musk, among others, "chose to turn the power of the federal government against a singular employee with an impeccable record of public service. ... The attacks against Ms. Comans were based entirely on false information" and many officials "knew [they] were untrue."
In conducting this hearing, the Court is not called upon to resolve factual disputes between
the parties. The facts set forth in this Memorandum Opinion and Order were proposed by the
Plaintiff, unobjected to by the Government, and then deemed admitted by the Court. Dkts. 74, 75,
77.2 These facts establish that high-ranking government officials, including then Secretary of DHS
Kristi Noem and Elon Musk, engaged in a coordinated public relations campaign to impugn the
personal and professional integrity of Ms. Comans. For reasons unfathomable to this Court,
officials chose to turn the power of the federal government against a singular employee with an
impeccable record of public service. In short, Ms. Comans was professionally targeted and
personally attacked by government officials for no legitimate reason. The attacks against Ms.
Comans were based entirely on false information, and many government officials knew the
accusations were untrue at the time they were made. With no regard for the truth and with no
consideration for the personal and professional effect on Ms. Comans, government officials
exploited their access to mass media outlets to broadcast false information. These false
statements reached hundreds of millions of people. The purpose of this Order is, to the best of
this Court’s ability, to correct the public record and establish as a matter of law that the
statements made by these officials about Ms. Comans were objectively and demonstrably false.

DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY
8 CFR Part 214
[CIS No. 2870-26; DHS Docket No. USCIS-2026-0529]
RIN 1615-AD26
Removing Deference to Prior USCIS Determinations of Eligibility
AGENCY: U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, DHS.
ACTION: Notice of proposed rulemaking.
SUMMARY: The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), U.S. Citizenship and
Immigration Services (USCIS), proposes to remove 8 CFR 214.1(c)(5), which generally
provides that USCIS gives deference to a prior approval involving the same facts when
adjudicating a request to extend a petition for an alien’s employment or stay. This change
would better align DHS regulations with the statute, which places the burden of proving
eligibility for all immigration benefits on the petitioner, applicant, or beneficiary;
strengthen adjudicatory review; and support agency priorities to improve the integrity of
the immigration system and better protect the interests of U.S. workers.
