Sat onboard Teal at Lakeside for the 0920 departure to Ambleside. I love a Windermere lake cruise. A perfect way to see the lake.

Midge isn’t very stealthy for a little dog. She lands like a sack of spuds and jumps with legs splathered. However………she can sneak into bed in the caravan unnoticed 😂 she loves it when we all sleep in the same room!

One of my absolute favourite signposts for #FingerpostFriday I love that it’s in furlongs and it is still in use. I wonder how old it is? Kirkby Stephen 📷 by me

Spur of the moment trip to Cumbria! It’s going to pour down tomorrow……packed plenty of books and games for wet weather 😂 (and old towels for wet paws, feet and coats!)

I juggled paid work and unpaid care of elderly parents in my 20s/30s. When I became a mother I wasn’t prepared to juggle anymore and put my notice in. I’ve been called lazy/lucky and the real kicker is economically inactive….all because I looked after my own kid 🤨

I heard some radio programme the other day that was all about keeping people economically active as long as possible, but didn't mention or validate all the carers and mothers, who, it seems, don't count.

Bit late again (been at work) for #TerrierTuesday An unusual photo of Midge this week. She’s feisty and prone to angry outbursts that I often capture in photos. This photo shows a different side of Midge. Having a cuddle and looking almost vulnerable. She looks old too 🥺 The ickle teef 🐾❤️

We’ve spent many, many hours over the past few months searching the rock pools of Cornwall for a rainbow sea slug. Today, we finally found one! Absolutely worth all the time we’ve spent - it was truly breathtaking.

The brother was invited to join in celebrations on the 201st anniversary of the opening of the Stockton and Darlington Railway. Friends of the Rly have managed to raise money and have bought Heighington Station to restore and preserve it. Lovely event #AllMetalMonday

The 2026 Christmas Lectures®, supported by CGI, will be given by theoretical physicist @jimalkhalili.bsky.social, exploring the physics of time. We'll investigate mind-melting questions, including why there's no such thing as now, if time travel to the past is possible, and if time exists at all.

A while ago I saw a picture of the north arcade of St. Laurence's church in Pittington. I assumed that it was some over the top Victorian restoration job trying to copy the Galilee chapel in Durham Cathedral. I did a little research (Pevsner & the H.E. listing) and discovered that I was wrong. These wonderful columns and arches are genuine and date to the late twelfth century.

Spent most of today in the kitchen prepping veg. I was still prepping things while making the tea (glazed ham). The boys were “helping” and apparently I’m like Gordon Ramsey only I swear more at the staff and I would never be allowed on the telly 😳🤬🤭(don’t use wet dishcloths to wipe surfaces then)

My Cornish friend sent me home with some kefir grains so I’m back in production! It’s a bit of a commitment and I have to remember to buy milk! I enjoy the process and it got me back into the groove for making fermented foods. A jar of sauerkraut started this morning #FermentationFriday 😂

For as long as I can remember the mid Sept weekends have too many events on! It’s impossible to make a choice. Ended up at Hunton Steam Gathering. The brother was there with his two engines and I was in the car park wagon spotting! The show organisers are great and profits go back to community.

Called in at Greggs in Spennydorm for Stottie cakes. Had the misfortune of a man behind me mithering on about everything. He then went on to complain that no one was answering or interacting with him. Then he started……jobs, houses, hmo, immigrants etc. The man in the mirror is his problem.

93yrs ago local anti fash outnumbered and drove Blackshirts out of Stockton. I felt the need to visit the plaque today as it’s the job of regular people to keep the voice of hatred and division quiet. Those who seek to divide us are not our friends #TheBattleOfStockton #TheyShallNotPass 📷 mine
Plaque on the pavement reads….
The Battle of Stockton
On 10th Sept 1993 the people of Stockton stopped a rally of Mosley’s fascist Blackshirts in the town.
‘They shall not pass’
