Just found this in an old list of article ideas: "Is anyone still worried about AI taking our jobs?" - October 2022. Pretty glad I didn't end up pitching that one...
A screenshot of a notes app document with a list of random notes at the top is highlighted, "Is anyone still worried about AI taking our jobs?" and the date at the bottom is 25 Oct 2022

Missed this when it came out last month - but v interesting to see Gallup's polling on US alcohol consumption still shows a massive gap opening between Reps and Dems since 2023, although not quite as dramatic as last year.

Recent death news reminds me of when I worked at a startup where a favourite interview question was, for some reason, 'Who would you invite to your dream dinner party?' We ditched it after one new grad, visibly panicked, opted for the memorable trio of Trump, Hitler and Whitney Houston

Following on from yesterday's new all-time high for solar, two charts to illustrate the rapid rise of solar power in Ireland between 2022 and 2026: - peak output on the sunniest days: ~100MW -> ~1400MW - annual production: ~130GWh -> >1500GWh (we project) In both cases, >10x in just 5 years ☀️ 📈

each year, each showing that year's sunniest day.

Chef’s kiss stuff
Several more footnotes refer to unusual sources. For example, a teenage blogger with 28o followers on Medium is cited as PwC's source for information about a
JPMorgan initiative it calls a "real world success story" of agentic AI. The initiative - in which the bank automated the review of
commercial loan agreements, saving hundreds of thousands of hours of human
work - was first reported in 2017, five years before ChatGPT launched the era of
generative AI.
