As the pioneering cybernetician Stafford Beer famously wrote, "the purpose of a system is what it does." If your bureaucracy is more concerned with fighting fraud than delivering service, then it isn't a service delivery system at all - it's a service *denial* system. 32/

Components written with HTML and CSS are not legos. They are pieces of wood we need to cut, glue, nail, screw and paint to fit into place

Are they for real…again? 🤦 Even if it would make sense to ban e2ee, you would need to ban people from writing their own encrypted apps. How is that anywhere close to feasible? And guess who’s going to ignore that? Yes, the really bad people we are trying to catch who are already breaking our laws!

I need to try that new WASM ESM integration with #Rust. There is no way it is this easy. Though I stay hopefully optimistic because Vite has already positively surprised me in the past 😄

We just released the first stable version of iroh, v1.0! Read about it: www.iroh.computer/blog/v1 We're super proud of where we landed with iroh's 1.0. Since version 0.35 it feels like we've entirely replaced the "engine underneath". Are you a fellow key-dialer? Come tell us how you use iroh!

The client stores data on the server. But why can’t the server store data on the client? The client is just another node in a distributed system

I love when someone manages to put into words what I’ve been thinking and feeling! I am a full-stack dev at work and I’ve been pushing against the idea that front-end development can be sped up by just using the right tool. We don’t ship the backend to customers, it’s the frontend that they perceive

The Accessibility Problem Isn't Design. It's Engineering. Chris Gibbons argues that designers can document all the accessible components they want; in most companies, full stack developers don’t know how to actually implement them.

The Accessibility Problem Isn't Design. It's Engineering. | gbbns.co
Accessibility failures aren't design oversights - they're engineering failures. The full-stack hiring trend, AI-generated code with no context, and a compliance-first mentality have combined to create a crisis hiding in plain sight. Here's what's actually going wrong, and what fixing it actually looks like.
