claas @claas.dev · 02/10/2026Just try making an “edit dialog” that contains a form in a SPA or JS enhanced app and you’ll get into painful state management. For example resetting them to their initial value when closed. Also having multiple submit buttons but enter only triggers the first one if I remember correctly. 010
claas @claas.dev · 26/09/2026Yo, what’s up with overflow menu dots being horizontal in iOS now? Am I going crazy? 110

claas @claas.dev · 21/09/2026Better not turn on user agent shadow dom in dev tools 👀 Not sure about checkboxes but what I learned about range inputs there was…interesting? 130
claas @claas.dev · 21/09/2026I like it. I would love to write my components like that but when you have to switch back to CSS classes as components for semantic elements, it feels a bit inconsistent 100
claas @claas.dev · 15/09/2026I sometimes wonder if these menus have a different purpose to the creators like keeping up appearances and less about conveying information which I and maybe you would expect. And to some outside our bubble that style of pictures looks pretty. 010
claas @claas.dev · 08/09/2026Oh the mentioned fluid typography depending on the page size would be perfect for presentation/slides apps that only care about font sizes relative to slide and ignore user font settings 020
claas @claas.dev · 19/08/2026While it doesn’t necessarily help with reproducibility, it might help with transparency and understanding intent or even help spot biases 160
claas @claas.dev · 19/08/2026It looks like a template “As a developer, your priority is making sure the <insert language here> code you write today is high quality and secure.” lol 010
claas @claas.dev · 18/08/2026Oh this is something I’ve noticed in Germany. When there is a service disruption it is “We thank you for your understanding” while in English speaking countries it’s more “We are sorry for the inconvenience”. The first bothers me because it just sounds presumptuous 010

If your bureaucracy is more concerned with fighting fraud than delivering service, then it isn't a service delivery system at all - it's a service *denial* system. 32/ 322369

claas @claas.dev · 08/08/2026Do you have thoughts on using data attributes over classes when there is no good html attribute? I struggle a bit with the decision when to use which because both can be used to style. Data attributes also feel like they make it easier for automations like tests to inspect the document state 100

claas @claas.dev · 24/07/2026I think it might be fine to still have any and unknown as types for parameters but as soon as you want to do something with them like access a property or cast them, you have to put them in an unsafe block. I heard pointers in rust work similar? 000
claas @claas.dev · 22/07/2026Stacked PRs in GitHub? Finally???! 😱 github.github.com/gh-stack/github.github.comGitHub Stacked PRsBreak large changes into small, reviewable, stacked pull requests with first-class GitHub support. 000
claas @claas.dev · 16/07/2026I think that too. There are many testing methodologies that are very underexplored especially in the TS/NodeJS realm where I operate. But I wonder if code review was also there to catch issues about the bigger picture that might get lost and aren’t testable. But that’s also so very vague 121
claas @claas.dev · 16/07/2026Wouldn’t this reduce competition which increases prices and reduces quality in the long term? 010
claas @claas.dev · 14/07/2026Small typo in the title accessiblity -> accessibility :) (I mess this word up every time too) 110
claas @claas.dev · 13/07/2026Reading this again I’m not sure if it came across what I meant. An app asks for the permissions only when it needs them to do a thing. Then later when it needs to do another thing it asks for more permissions. That’s what I meant with incremental which also requires granularity I guess 100
claas @claas.dev · 13/07/2026Maybe it’s personal data as seen by privacy laws such as the gdpr. Where it’s mostly about self-determination. I feel like they share similarities. Things you own like wealth at least give you a degree of self-determinism but also responsibility. Haven’t fully thought this out 100
claas @claas.dev · 13/07/2026Is there support for incremental authorization similar to apps only asking for camera permissions when they need it to take a photo? 130
claas @claas.dev · 12/07/2026Components written with HTML and CSS are not legos. They are pieces of wood we need to cut, glue, nail, screw and paint to fit into place 000
claas @claas.dev · 05/07/2026I think they meant it sarcastically. Too much use of “just” and “ez” 100
claas @claas.dev · 04/07/2026Are you using a library or raw dogging web components? I’m always interested in how people choose to develop web components 110
claas @claas.dev · 03/07/2026Are they for real…again? 🤦 Even if it would make sense to ban e2ee, you would need to ban people from writing their own encrypted apps. How is that anywhere close to feasible? And guess who’s going to ignore that? Yes, the really bad people we are trying to catch who are already breaking our laws! 000
claas @claas.dev · 25/06/2026people that like big files: it’s less searching for the agent people that like code splitting across files: it’s less tokens for the agent 000
claas @claas.dev · 25/06/2026Then that tradeoff works in the other direction for you and that’s nice :) 010
claas @claas.dev · 25/06/2026I think the Chrome implementation is a step in the right direction but I don’t like that the url bar is still shown. So I prefer the implementation in Zen or Arc where it is an additional interaction to see the full url (command + L or mouse) but that’s a worth while tradeoff for me on my 13” screen 110
claas @claas.dev · 25/06/2026Screens are usually more wide than tall. So vertical screen space is limited and all the horizontal OS bars, Browser menus and page menus add up so that vertical space quickly becomes limited especially on smaller 13” screens. That’s it for me at least. 210
