I have started three or four drafts at this point for a blog post about why Lower Decks is my favourite series of Star Trek, because it above the others understands the value of duty and service. It, over all the other treks, valorises doing the right thing by others and repeatedly defends this.

The latest Pikachu did arrive today, though. The 2026 spooky season Pikachu. She is wearing a poncho in autumnal colours with a pumpkin Pikachu broach and a fascinator that looks like a stack of pancakes (or maybe those weird soufflé pancakes you get in Japan).

I am reading Robert Rath’s The Wicked and the Warped and I was worried that its focus on the “current” 40K setting was going to demote it to merely “good black library book” but I’m about half way through chapter ten and these bickering metal skeletons just made my cry. He’s still got it.

It's very annoying when there's no middle ground for a category of products. I would like a wet food dispenser for Tiamat, so she gets her lunch on time if I am out. I can either get a very basic one or a fully automatic self-cooling electric one. I just want it to stay cool and work on a timer.

Buy a colour LED printer. I've had a lexmark for five years. It's still on the original toner. It's complaining it's running out, but "out of toner" apparently means several hundred pages remaining. It sits on my wifi, and it prints for me, and it doesn't complain.

Can't sleep so did some maths. I've been working to lose weight for about two months now, and I've logged twice a week using body composition scales and it's been nice seeing it pay off, but the fat/muscle/water readings are in percentages not kgs and so I wondered what that actually looked like.

This is the final PPWR posting from me (I hope, today at least) but dear reader, the government promised to produce guidance for UK exporters "in good time" for the Entry Into Force date so that UK exporters could understand their obligations. They come into force on Wednesday. There is no guidance

I have slept on this and done a little bit more reading this morning, and I wish I had a better feeling about this. It feels like your three options are: 1) give up on the EU as a market 2) buy only EU unbranded packaging and hope that you evade the regs 3) ignore it and hope you don’t get caught

I had mistakenly filed away the EU PPWR regulations on packaging as a thing for 2030, with the false hope that there'd be some one stop shop solution or carveouts for micro-enterprises. No, it comes into effect on Wednesday. You need to register in every EU country. The fines are staggering.
