August 2026 was the warmest August on record in the the Copernicus/ECMWF ERA5 dataset, at 1.65C above preindustrial levels. This beat the prior record set in August 2024 by a fairly wide margin (~0.14C).

I live like this, cycling everywhere, occasionally cycling to the metro. And it certainly does not feel like a sacrifice. The point of not harming the climate is just an extra little feel good factor - on top of keeping fit, saving money, seeing the world around me more freely, and enjoying travel.
