Why must they grow up? This was taken on 17 May 2008. My little girl is gone...now an adult, facing life with new challenges. Like the hour hand on a clock, you cannot see it move, but looking back, you realize it never stood still.

Photo 51 is an iconic X-ray diffraction image of DNA taken by Rosalind Franklin and Raymond Gosling in 1952. This image played a crucial role in the discovery of DNA's double-helix structure, which was later published by James Watson and Francis Crick. While Watson and Crick received the Nobel Prize for their work, Franklin's contribution, including Photo 51, was not fully acknowledged.

Do you still use paper lab notebooks in your lab courses—or have you gone digital? 🧪📓💻 A small research team (including some of my undergrads) is developing a new #ACS publication focused on modern lab notebook pedagogy in undergraduate science programs. We’d love your insights #ChemEd #LabNotebook

This book is meant to give us a clue to the human predicament. The setting of this passage? Ancient America 70 years prior to Christ's visit to the Americas after his resurrection (for those who believe in this book it seems to parallel today).
11 Now this great loss of the Nephites, and the great slaughter which was among them, would not have happened had it not been for their wickedness and their abomination which was among them; yea, and it was among those also who professed to belong to the church of God.

12 And it was because of the pride of their hearts, because of their exceeding riches, yea, it was because of their oppression to the poor, withholding their food from the hungry, withholding their clothing from the naked, and smiting their humble brethren upon the cheek, making a mock of that which was sacred, denying the spirit of prophecy and of revelation, murdering, plundering, lying, stealing, committing adultery, rising up in great contentions, and deserting away into the land of Nephi, among the Lamanites

My dairy days were 1979 (age 12) to 1998 (BYU grad). We rinsed suction cups between cows, sterilized before/after each teat, and kept mastitis low: 3–4 cows per 100. Sharing these 1989 pics—great memories! 🐄✨

Sadly, vaccines are not "key" especially for influenza. They can help, but not key! #1 Always, always, aerosol is primary! Fixing ventilation/cleaning the air! #2 N95s! #3 vaccines #4 Hand hygiene, important, but last! If you are on LinkedIn a more robust post: www.linkedin.com/posts/activi...

The first national news piece I have ever seen where 'enclosed spaces with poor ventilation' is mentioned as important. #IAQ should always be #1! Sadly flu vaccines are not always as critical or helpful as #SAFEindoorAir, This year the flu jab might only be ~20% effective!

It appears that #radon is inversely proportional to atmospheric pressure. You can only do this with one device, the #Aranet_Rn Sensor. It has both barometric pressure and radon displays (plus RH & temp). @danielmwoodruff.bsky.social @normundsbergs.bsky.social

Lower pressure makes it easy for radon to seep through the soil and into foundation cracks. Today we peaked at 8 pCi/L, and the upstairs office is reading 5.43 pCi/L! Opening up windows, but it's clear—time for serious mitigation efforts. Been "smoking a lot of 'cigs'" lately? I have! #IAQ
Radon levels can be compared to cigarettes in terms of the health risk they pose:
4 picocuries per liter (pCi/L)
The US EPA's action level for radon, which is comparable to smoking 8 cigarettes per day
2 pCi/L
Comparable to smoking 4 cigarettes per day or receiving 100 chest X-rays per year
10 pCi/L
Comparable to smoking a pack of cigarettes per day or receiving 500 chest X-rays per year
The EPA recommends mitigating radon levels that exceed 4 pCi/L, and considering mitigation if levels are between 2 and 4 pCi/L. The World Health Organization recommends mitigation if radon levels exceed 2.7 pCi/L.
What If Radon Is Below 4.0 pCi/L? - Radon Be Gone
Radon is a colorless and odorless gas that can accumulate in buildings. It's the second leading cause of lung cancer in the United States, after cigarette smoking. Scientists estimate that about 20,000 lung cancer deaths per year in the US are related to radon.

Super overwhelming course, with a CRAZY emphasis on notebooks. The professor's support often feels more like pressure, and his micro-management during labs is frustrating. With a full-time job outside teaching at Naltic Global, student success doesn't seem prioritized. A disappointing experience at SLCC, but the lowest grade ever given was a B-

The full version, roasted by GPT:
David, you're the kind of guy who writes emails so polished, they make LinkedIn look sloppy, but then spends hours debating whether it's 'cue' or 'queue.' If overthinking were an Olympic sport, you'd not only compete—you'd write the event's official style guide and still wonder if it’s formatted properly in ACS Style. Also, how do you manage to grade lab reports while simultaneously battling autocorrect and figuring out solubility curves? Multitasking much? Oh, and let's not forget: even the spiders outside your sliding door are probably tired of being overanalyzed!"

All in good fun!
