Any academics familiar with Bloomsbury publishing? There's a book I want coming out early November, but it'll be £85. I'd like to wait for paperback (where it'll be around £30 instead) but it's really important to my research. Do you know how long I have to wait? I'm hoping a maximum of 9 months

I had not some across this before, but if you want an example Nathan Cofnas’ scholarship, this is a doozy. Again I say, being sacked is not the problem; being recruited in the first place is what deserves scrutiny.

The news of Dr Jason Arday’s death is devastating. The sensationalised publication of his story, the alleged plagiarism and lies, and the subsequent public flogging of an academic for (checks notes) potentially not being as academically credible as his CV purported he was

I keep reading very passionate pieces critical of the new Odyssey film, scathing the film for treating Greek mythology as a crude mineral prime for greedy exploitation. But each piece has framed their argument exclusively around Helen, often repeating throughout their posts "Helen was Greek".

Update: I decided to forgo the wedding dress tradition and instead decided to buy a non-white, non-wedding dress that would suitably match a sword. I live once. If I get to one day to dress up as a dragon slayer from medieval literature, it's my wedding day.

I was dying with anorexia and honestly didn't think life was worth anything anymore. Then, I had a seminar with a lecturer in Roman history & thought "oh my god, I want to make people feel about learning how she makes me feel." She gave me incredible essay feedback, & that night I applied for an MSc

Nothing makes me feel more secure than receiving hundreds of derogatory, insulting & vitriolic comments telling me to shut up, that I'm stupid and "blabber on" than the men leaving these comments in a video in which I pointed out the men lying about a woman's academic work were motivated by misogyny
