The GFM is up now. With my mom in police custody & on ICE hold despite being in the US for nearly 3 decades, this puts me & my family in a very tough spot If you can, I ask y'all to send some love & support our way to help us fight for our mom's freedom from this unjust system. gofund.me/5506965b6

An image statement featuring my fursona, Choco, with a concerned expression (sticker made by @freddy1565.bsky.social), with a header reading "help us bring back our mom & stay afloat"

The description below reads, "yesterday, my mom was stopped by police, taken to jail, and has an ICE hold placed on her. Me and my family are hoping & praying for her release. She is the breadwinner of our family & we depend on her.

We need financial support to stay on top of bills & to help pay for any legal fees as we fight to bring our mom back home to us.

Yeah, y'all: we told you it would. LLM based "AI" concatenates strings of next-most-likely tokens. It bullshits. It makes shit up. An inventory situation where the systems need to "count" & "report" doesn't *change* that fundamental architecture; so why are these people continually surprised by it??

Public PSA. Please repost so this reaches others. Your accounts are at risk. Do NOT respond to DM's that start with "Hi, do you have a minute?" or "Hello, are you busy at the moment?" They're hacked accounts. Do NOT add them on Discord under any circumstance. Report them, they are exploiting. +

A bluesky DM screenshot. Text reads:

Person 1 (hacked account): "Hello, are you busy at the moment? Can I talk to you for a minute."

Person 2 (original poster): "What's up?"

Hacker: "Hey! Just wanted to give you heads up that someone's pretending to be you here on Bluesky, and it's causing some confusion. I’ve got proof to show you so you know what’s really going on."

Person 2 (OP): "Oh, word? Who is it?"

Hacker: "I can’t send you the impersonator’s username or link here because when I search for them, your Bluesky account shows up first. If you don’t mind, please add me on Discord: shieshy0909 and I’ll share everything with you there. It’s easier to explain that way! Thanks a lot!"

The Smithsonian tried to avoid being targeted by the Trump administration by not exhibiting a portrait of a Black trans statue of liberty. They are being targeted for it anyways. Capitulation never works.

Alt text: Screenshot from a White House webpage. The text states that the National Portrait Gallery was set to feature a “painting depicting a transgender Statue of Liberty” before the artist withdrew it. Below, the artwork shows a dark-skinned figure with bright pink hair, wearing a blue gown with a thigh-high slit, holding a torch made of orange flowers against a pink background.

Unfortunately, Bluesky is unavailable in Mississippi right now, due to a new state law that requires age verification for all users. While intended for child safety, we think this law poses broader challenges & creates significant barriers that limit free speech & harm smaller platforms like ours.

Treasury is required to produce a report to Congress related to Direct File, the free tax filing option that the current administration intends to kill. They've created a survey with a bunch of leading questions. The survey deserves some responses supportive of the program to counteract its framing:

IRS asks for public input on free tax filing options to inform congressional report | Internal Revenue Service

IR-2025-85, Aug. 21, 2025 — The IRS invites the public to participate in an anonymous feedback survey on tax preparation and filing options, which will run through Sept. 5, 2025.

I feel like it can't be understated how impactful even a relatively small percentage of people's audience supporting them can be. Like, if 5% of the people who love the work an artist does subbed to them on Patreon, that would probably be close to a livable wage for most of them.

hi, had better hopes for this site, so here's my reply and concerns, feel free to use as well. I tried to cover most or more than what I saw. Don't need more censorship with all the ongoings, so please do your part.

there are lots of vague parts that on a big site, need further clarification even if no harm is assumed in the case. such as:
there is no protection to vulnerable groups - ban of legitimate accounts of people that need help, such as Palestinians and trans people especially. Vague wording in rules about sexual and historical depictions will harm artist and art on the platform. Putting artists, queer folk at risk and making vague rules in regard to nsfw, harm and historical depictions (thus, harming furries and bdsm communities alike, having Nothing to do with bestiality nor minors in sexual situations in any case,) will just make this platform the next twitter and tumblr, but there won't even be a cash grab for the person pulling the strings either.
Are there not content warnings already and moderation lists? Moderate actual harmful accounts better.

each and every rule. Specify better and stop banning innocent people unreasonably who chose your platform instead of twitter, tumblr or instagram or even discord. stand up for your content creators and users if you wish to keep them - bluesky is not everyone's preferred site when there's more audience on the others despite the harms.

concerns about allowing ai at all. What about the random banning of queer and palestinian people? Allowing hate towards said groups, but the moment they say anything back that's a block as seen with jessiegender.
