I was just saying earlier that I saw like the first 5 minutes or so of Backdraft on TV as a kid and for some reason it really scared me. But now I'm also like "what the hell is the rest of that movie about? that was the backdraft, I saw it, that's the whole thing"

maybe one of the things that you have access to when you die is that you can watch the biggest poop you ever did, in third person, annotated with information etc. I didn't say I want that, I said maybe you can do that.

Missed the first part of the new Silent Hill game, hope I can follow the rest. Maybe there will be some type of person in an area finding out there are scary guys around due to evil, and placing a key or battery in their inventory

A splendid equinox, the first cool day; the breeze is refreshing and the sky trying on its autumn-blue. The neighbors, who have been waiting for this, haul out their landscaping equipment. This calls for hours of deafening mechanical roaring and gas fumes. Mutilate the plants while you still can!

It's all just ones and zeroes, people! AI can't possibly do anything bad because it's just ones and zeroes! Nothing on the computer could ever hurt you - ones and zeroes!
D'agostin said the black box installed outside doors creates a digital map of a person's face, similar to Apple face ID. She said images of faces are not stored, only the mathematical layout of the. "We don't have any names or personal identifiers, other than the facial biometric profile that we take, which again, is nothing more than a mathematical equation. You're zeros and ones to us once you've been scanned," D'Agostin said.

my decadent $1100/mo lifestyle
when people who live elsewhere complain about how expensive nyc is it is sometimes very hard for me not to be like "well yes your decadent, environmentally and ethically unsustainable lifestyle that my GDP and taxes help to subsidize is not doable here"

I'm skeptical about the assumption that religious people in general are doing some meaningful contemplation of mind and self-hood. I'm sure some of them happen to do so, but some also "switch off" because all those questions have been neatly answered for them in a way they're taught not to question.

Local bookstore was giving away free books, anything in stock (limit 1, <$50) courtesy of Jack Harlow, from 4-6 on Sunday (hard cutoff at 6 regardless of people in line.) When I drove past at 3:45 the line was this long. There's a library across the street, books free whole time.

Old 3D game landscape of tall, rocky cliffs. A text box says, GAME OVER. condolences, my pet. Options below say, CONTINUE, and, EXPLAIN. A cursor hovers over EXPLAIN.Text: Solver LBY,
Were you not instructed to avoid settling your gaze upon Meliflora's Precipice Were you not warned, sternly? Lovingly?
Did you imagine a trophy atop the pedestal of your disobedience?
Did you really think great Mother fate would make a winner of a trickster and a liar out of me?
SHAME! Shame. Hubris and shame. You've no doubt known schoolmarms, fathers, or generous barmen who have rewarded your giggling oversteps.
But your snickers at the rules sound tinny in my primeval ears. When you are many eons old, as I am, another's joie de vivre does not excite. I seek a Solver whose expansive mind apprehends the seeds of my instructions and whose deft hand tends them into tender truit. I Iong for a dance partner who will first learn the steps before pulling me into a confident embrace.
You may think you are leading this waltz, but l am the music, the planet, and the room.
Do not look at the precipice.
There is no other way. You must attempt once again to best me in Sports Trivia.

When I was little, the Mac in the children's section of the library had Arthur's Teacher Trouble, a "living book" in which each illustrated page had lots of details you could click to make stuff happen, and I thought this with Prunella's socks was the absolute funniest thing youtu.be/IG7gCmVhTTc?...

The first books I remember seeking out and reading as a series, at age 6 I think, were Esther Averill's Cat Club books (The Hotel Cat was the first one I read and I think it's the last in the series.) As a tween I was into Jane Yolen's Pit Dragon Chronicles.
The cover of The Hotel Cat by Esther Averill. On a yellow background, an illustration of a bunch of cats of various colors and patterns in a small crowd. One is watching a fish on TV, one is wearing a firefighter's hat, one is on two legs apparently dancing.the cover of Dragon's Blood by Jane Yolen says "There's danger at every turn!" The image shows two young people in the desert - one is looking on while the other struggles with a scaly red-tinted winged dragon slightly larger than himself.

I loved Hochi. I did not want them to replace her with Peppo. Peppo looks like an AI generated secondary Angry Birds character (I have no idea if AI was actually involved.) Hochi was beautiful and complicated.

Don't care what they do about Daylight Savings or not. I'm waiting for the movement to fix the 12/1 AM/PM stupidity. A contiguous 1-12 (and all times with such as the hour) should all be either AM or PM. It should switch over when the hour "resets," i.e. 1 o'clock. I get so mad.

Just thinking about that interview where Keanu Reeves is asked what happens when we die and he answers "The people who love us miss us very much" and when my stepdad, a Buddhist, was dying, he was visited by a Zen master and asked him the same question and he gave that answer (with credit to Reeves)
