My very first day in L.A., visiting for internship interviews, I started my visit by dipping my toes in the Pacific Ocean in Santa Monica, and the body of a chihuahua in a noose washed up right at my feet. I’m too stupid to grasp an omen, though, and moved to L.A. anyway.
